MT HERMON ANIMAL CLINIC

About us

We are a small group of veterinary professionals that are like a family and we treat our clients and patients like family. That is why our slogan is "we are your family vet, keeping your furry family healthy and happy." We are here to give you the best medical care for your pet. We are a full service hospital with in house laboratory, radiology, pharmacy and surgery. We can take care of anything your pet needs and we have good relationships with referral hospitals allowing us to provide you with the very best that veterinary medicine has to offer. We understand what you mean your pet is your "baby" and we understand that cats are not small dogs and need a quiet calm place to visit. Call ahead with your nervous cat and we will quietly wisk him into a quiet exam room while you fill out your paper work. We have 2 doctors:Dr. Jeff Smith, our practice owner, is active in our community. He serves on the board of the Danville Area Humane Society, is a member the Riverview Rotary Club, and has served as a deacon at West Main Baptist Church to name a few things. Dr. Smith has veterinary medicine in his blood, he was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada while his father was in vet school there. He talks fondly of his memories as a boy living in a house with a veterinary clinic attached. He moved to Miami, Fl at the age of 14 and spent his high school years working at a veterinary emergency clinic after school. He received his degree from Auburn University in 1994 and came to Danville to partner with Dr. Sam Jones and Dr. John Moser. Working with Dr. Jones, Dr. Smith began developing his talents in surgery and now accepts regular referrals from area veterinarians in Danville, South Boston, Eden, and Martinsville. Dr. Smith also has a special interest in behavioral medicine and helps people solve problems from begging at the table to the most complex fears, phobias, and aggressions. Dr. Smith is very proud of his 3 boys, Zachary, Levi, and Graydon and you will see him frequently at soccer games, baseball games, and other school related events. Dr. Smith is married to the former Angela Keatts who is a Kindergarten teacher at Park Avenue Elementary School. Dr. Katie Rohrig has been with us since July of 2009. Katie attained her degrees from Virginia Tech. First a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Poultry Sciences and secondly a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Katie is originally from the Mount Hermon area and has worked with the clinic since her high school years. Katie currently lives in Chatham with her husband Will. Katie and Will have Dixie, a german short haired pointer, Macy, a lab mix, a cat named Ellie. In her spare time Katie enjoys spending time with her family and riding her 2 quarter horses, Candy and Keri. Mallory Kueng Betterton is our expert pet stylist. She was formally trained at the Nan Hall School of Dog Grooming and can work miracles with all breeds. From the fancy show cut poodles to the shi-tzu puppy trim, Mallory operates a full service spa. Other services Mallory offers include dremel nail filing, terrier stripping, bathing and color accents upon request.

As always wonderful. They treat my babies like family and Mallory is by far the best groomer I have ever had. I have been going here for years and I love them.

They're excellent. It's in a perfect location, right by my house. The staff is super great. I've been going to them for over 20 years. You can't get any better than them. They're great people.

After contacting numerous veterinarians in the area, I "found" Mount Hermon Animal Clinic. They were very helpful, professional and friendly. When I picked up my kitten she was relaxed, happy and smelled beautiful, she healed with no complications. When I went back to have her stitches removed, the experience was also great. I would recommend them to anybody and everybody in need of veterinarian services, they are professional and honestly caring, great staff!

Dr. Smith examined this very little sick puppy. Because placing Cooper at the hospital was not a financial option, Dr. Smith provided me with all the things needed to take care of Cooper at home. He (or someone from his office) called our home regularly to check on Cooper. Dr. Smith was very professional, very caring, and just the best of vet! This was my first experience with Dr. Smith and the clinic itself. They will be my vet forever!
