As for installation, they did a wonderful job. Clean installation, even when needing to modify and provide additional attention for entry into home. As for functional service, mediocre at best, it struggles with anything higher than a 2 MBPS stream when on an isolated source (meaning the streaming device is the only thing pulling from the internet connection). If you're looking for simple web browsing, fantastic. They do not taper speed, but they do send shut off pulses. Meaning if you're consuming data at a rate they deem unacceptable, they'll send disruption pulses which will disconnect then reconnect you to the internet, this is a common tactic providers use to discourage prolonged internet usage. As a certified network technician who has taken a several months time to sample their internet before making this review, I can assure you of my accuracy. I'll reference a incident, a 3.8 gb Xbox update took 7+ hours. Now to be fair, during about 2 houra there was streaming attempted, unsuccessful but attempted without downgrading stream quality. After that I did stream at .5 mbps (240p resolution) while monitoring the download. The preceeded to send a shut off pulse after 1.5 hours and then continually for the next 3 hours. From 11 pm to 2 am, off peak time. To give a comparison, Comcast/AT&T/Verizon and a few others can offee the ability to handle that download at a fraction of the time, while streaming at maximum compacity. I assume you're asking, but for what price!?! VBB (Virginia Broadband) charges over $125 dollars a month for 25 mbps speeds, the companies I mention offer over 50 mbps at around $50-60 dollars a month without taper or shut off pulses (roughly double the speed for roughly half the price). In a scenario when satellite internet is your only option, they MIGHT be better, might, beyond that, please, save yourself the money and frustration. I have live video proof of their internet proficiency, and please understand this is under clear weather conditions, no disruptions. I will follow up with a YouTube post within a week, after I've had time to pull the video from my camcorder and upload it to see for yourself. We can blame net neutrality, but truthfully, if we continue to give them business after the knowledge, It is our own fault then. Avoid VBB.

The service is advertised as VPN friendly, but it's not. I've had a known issue for at least 3 weeks, and the provider (VABB) will not fix the issue, and I was told it's "in management's hands" on when (or if?) they will fix it. I have made at least 8 calls (with 4 answered before I gave up on hold) over the last 4 weeks. I was promised a call back from the Customer Service manager, but never got one. If you need reliable VPN (or internet), consider someone else.

The technician, I do not remember his name and I wish I did was phenomenal. He called me to let me know that it was going to be late and that they had overbooked him TimeWise. we had just purchased the summer home and had no clue where anything was and he spent every minute necessary to get everything hooked up and working properly. The young woman I spoke to on the phone was also fantastic and through. The only problem I had was I reached out multiple times online to try and reschedule my appointment and no one would contact me. They also said they were available 24 hours and I tried at 9 on two different occasions with no one answering in the phone just ringing. I was lucky to be available and not have to change the install date and time because I live over 2 hours away from the home. That is why I did not give Stellar remarks but the young customer service woman that I spoke to and the install technician were fantastic

Service is working great to my rural mountainside property.  High quality wireless broadband network.  I was lucky to live in a location with good coverage.  Can stream video and place video conference calls.

This provider was professional and concerned about my ability to get internet service from day one. Relocation of the cottage I lived in did not bode well for service. The salesman and installers worked with me to keep cost to a minimum yet have good service. When my son came home from school, my internet usage doubled. The company increased, then decreased my data plan when he left, in order to save me additional charges. When heavy storms knocked the tower out that my service came from for several days, VABB applied a credit to my account for those days without service. Finally, when I called to have my service discontinued because of moving, I was not charged an early termination fee because a new tenant would be establishing an account at the cottage in the next week. VABB treats their clients the way they would treat themselves. I would recommend them to anyone.

Can be quite slow during business hours and after school. I hold off large downloads till late at night.
Not affected by weather, rare equipment outages.
Response from Virginia Broadband LLC
"Thanks (member name removed) - Since your review on Angie's List in 2012, you have been upgraded in 2014 with our latest wireless technology. Your speeds have increased from 1mbps to over 15mbps. We have also beefed up our network to mitigate slowness during peak usage hours - more upgrades coming this summer (2015). All Internet providers experience slowness in their network during peak usage hours - especially in the evenings when everyone is on-line playing games, doing homework, or streaming a movie. VABB continues to tweak our network to ensure your experience is a pleasant one - regardless the time of day."
