The electrician replaced the plug, but the pump still didn’t work. He then found a switch on the wall that controlled the outlet. It was embarrassing; but in 25 years the switch had never been turned off, and we had forgotten its existence. Also, it was behind the opened door - but to his credit the repairman hunted it down and it worked.

Their work was good; they did a fine job. However, though they are located less than 30 minutes from our home, they got lost on the way out here (we live in the country and there is a detour nearby due to construction) and they charged us for the time they were lost: $245 for 90 minutes of labor plus the time they spent trying to find our house. We are disappointed in the extra, needless charge and though we liked their work we'd never call them again or recommend them to anyone.
