Excellent quality wood and excellent service

This was during intense cold, weather that resulted in power loss, etc. - i.e. their busy time, I asked if they would come as soon as possible, deliver and stack. First call to number said they would take care of right away. Don't think message was delivered to correct person, so called again. They came out right away. Beautiful wood, slow burning that provided heat when needed. Didn't realize/remember the size of 1/2 cord - it is plenty and will last us for quite a while.

They responded to my request quickly and was able to deliver the next day when I wasn’t home. They stacked the firewood neatly on the rack on my back porch and without any mess left behind. The kiln-dried firewood burns really cleanly. I purchased a 1/4 cord of kiln-dried firewood and 2 bundles of kindling with stacking service.

I spoke with the owner on the phone and appreciated the lengths they went to find good quality firewood. There firewood is kiln-dried and we have not needed to let it season like previous firewood. The size of the wood is also excellent - well-split with no need to chop into smaller pieces. They delivered on time and dropped the wood exactly where I asked them to place the load. I will definitely use them again.

I ordered one cord of Five Star kiln-dried firewood, but the wood seems wet and does not burn well, suggesting the wood was either "seasoned" (not what I paid for) or a mix of both kiln and seasoned. The wood is reportedly restaurant approved for food preparation, but some of what I received seemed no different than traditional seasoned wood with the average amount of dirt and debris. The company was polite, and delivery was on time - but at double the cost of traditional seasoned wood I'm not convinced it was worth the premium price.

OK, back and forth on email where a phone call by company could have eliminated multiple emailing and ordering.

The firewood was delivered on time and were great pieces of wood, good sizes and nice and dry!

Very professional. Delivered firewood as scheduled. We weren't home at the time of delivery, but they dropped off the wood exactly where they were supposed to. Have had only one fire since delivery, but wood burned well and is of good quality. Plan to use Five Star again.

Everything was just how they promised. On time delivery, all hard wood, and cut to the size I wanted. I just finished stacking the last of it. There were absolutely no bugs at all in it, and no bug holes in the wood either. The kiln dried wood made it all worth it. If you care at all about your firewood, you'll want to order from these folks. It may be a bit more expensive then some others, but you are getting a product that is worth it. Used it in my wood fired pizza over twice now, and I couldn't be happier. I will be a repeat customer for sure.

Five Star Firewood delivered a little more than 1/2 cord of dried firewood. We coordinated a delivery time through email. I was notified a few days in advance that they were running behind and they asked if we could move the delivery date back a day, which was fine with me. Five Star send an email the night before asking me to leave a tarp out as rain was predicted. They delivered a little more than a half cord of dry, still warm (from the kiln drying I assume) firewood to the top of my driveway and covered the pile with the tarp I left. There was some scraps of wood and bark left over when I finished stacking it all, but everything they dropped off was combustible, no dirt, rocks or other debris. almost all the wood was perfectly sized for a fireplace with only a few odd shaped or short-cut pieces. I will most likely order from this company again next time I need firewood.

He had seasoned trees waiting to be cut so he cut to my specified stove length (19") and split a little smaller than usual. Wood seems to be white oak, very good quality and pretty dry - will be perfect by fall. They unloaded the wood across lawn from driveway which was a big help - the other local service I have used in the past will only dump on driveway, which meant we needed to move across the lawn by hand to stack. Also other service had rocks, stones, dirt, mulch, all kinds of junk with the wood (I assume from front end loader) and the cleanup was a big hassle. This wood was very clean - only normal scrap that's you'd expect from a truckload of wood.

Started good, great email interaction with Daniel ordering and scheduling my delivery. 1/2 cord of firewood. Wood was delivered on time and was good quality wood.... But they delivered less than 1/4 cord of wood. Unfortunately I was not home and paid over the phone. Upon seeing the stack and measuring it up I contacted Daniel, who reluctantly told me they would make it up the following week. 2 weeks went by and nothing, I contacted again and was again told I would get my other 1/4 cord the following week. Again 2 weeks go by and nothing. Finally I call the owner Rick, he told me the following Monday they would get the wood to me. Tuesday comes and I contact him again and again he says it's coming soon. 2 days later Rick calls me and says he can drop off some wood he has in his truck, but he can't stack it or place it where I need it, which I originally paid for, so he has to dump it out by my driveway. Oh well at this point I just want what I paid for. Again I get home to find maybe a 1/16th to and 1/8th a cord of dirty mangled junk wood in a pile. I would not recommend this company. It is so common now for firewood wood sellers to try to short people on wood. There is no way a person that sells firewood for a living can't tell the difference between a quarter and half a cord. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and they refused to make the situation right, and essentially strung me along until I have given up. So sad to see a family business run this way, with such little integrity or customer service.

Daniel was quick to respond and very kind.  The fire wood was amazing quality and it has saved us money on our energy bill.  
This year it took him a little longer to respond and sadly it seems they have moved from their location in Chantilly.  Due to location we are unsure if we will purchase from them again.   This is sad to us since it was superior firewood from a kind and generous company.  

Daniel was quick to reply, I'm not sure what some of these other posts are about regarding his response time, I had no problems.  I explained that I lived in a condo and that I wanted to place the wood outdoors behind my building, which was eventually shot down by my condo board.  My alternative was to have the wood delivered up three flights of stairs to my outdoor porch.  Daniel quickly responded that he could provide the service for an additional fee. On the day of delivery Daniel arrived and we helped helped him bring the three barrels of wood up to my porch.  I have no complaints about the service, the quality of the wood, or the price.  I live in Washington, DC and I found his pricing to be very much in line with other providers.

I had the same experience as others. The quantity of wood was good, however many pieces were much larger than normal and the wood is not dry enough to burn on its own without seasoning it for 6 months in wood shed.

The folks at Fivestar Firewood were easy to work with and set everything up via email with no trouble at all.  If you want to have kiln dried wood they're who you want to work with.

They were excellent. Those guys were great with service, great with the product, great with delivery. They were outstanding and highly recommended. Their charge is a little bit more than normal but that's because they kiln dry it, which means that they put it in a heater so that there's no moisture in the wood so it burns a lot more efficiently and a lot more cleaner. It's high quality firewood for the price. They also do special orders for cuts. We have a wood burning stove, they cut it at a specific length we need, so it's a little bit more but it's definitely worth the price.

I orderd from five-star and paid a premium because I was getting kiln-dried wood. The first phone call was positive and friendly. . .I was offered a and quot;specialand quot; which was $300 for a full cord with free delivery. They promised to deliver with a week to 10 days. It was downhill from there.
I called them on day 10 (a Thursday) and talked to the owner (Rick) whom after discussing with his son figured out that they forgot about me. He said they could deliver within a week to 10 days. I insisted on delivery the following Monday and they did. It appeared to be a good full cord so that was positive.
After building my first fire, it was clear that this wood was not kiln-dried and not aged at all. It would not burn at all without the help of starter logs. . once the starter logs were spent, the and quot;kiln driedand quot; wood stopped burning as well. I could hear the whistle and litterally see the water drip from the logs as I attempted to burn them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I tried other logs several other times with the same results. The wood does not burn on its own.
I called Rick about it asked if they prehaps accidentally delivered wood that hadn't been through the kiln drying process. He said he doubted it but would check with his son and get back to me. I called him back a few days later and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I re-explained the situation and insisted that he didn't deliver what I paid for. His response was and quot;I guess we can't please everyoneand quot;. Seriously? All I wanted was wood that burns and his explanation was that I'm too picky!
I told him I wanted him to come to my house and build a fire with this wood and see if I'm too picky. If it burns I'll keep it, if not, take it back and deliver to me kiln dried wood. He said he wasn't interested in doing that but that he would deliver me a new cord and I could keep the old cord. . .not worth the effort to take back the original cord apparently. When I asked when it would be delivered. . . and quot;a week to 10 daysand quot;. I followed up two weeks later and left a voice mail. . . again a few days after that.
He has ignored my voicemails since and I of course haven't heard from him and don't expect to. I don't know how he can stay in business this way. . . very disapppointing.
I guess I'll have decent wood for next season and have given up on them. I will do my part however to make sure others don't have a similar experience.
