Hillary Cook DVM

I had been searching for a holistic vet to offer complementary treatment and further diagnosis on my older, ailing dog. Dr. Cook was very gentle and thorough with my dog. She practices both conventional and holistic medicine. After the exam, Dr. Cook did an acupuncture treatment on my dog. Other vets had done this, but this was the first time the treatment was done on a soft surface, and lights dimmed. At Virginia Tech, it was done in bright lights and in an environment not conducive to relaxation.
Dr. Cook also made diet suggestions, recommended probiotics (which was good since the dog had been on antibiotics), and a supplement to support her liver. Dr. Cook also recommended day-long fluid treatments at a vet clinic.
She was more thorough, comprehensive and pro-active than other vets we had seen, and very gentle to the dog, and me. It was worth driving to Crozet for the visit. I especially appreciated the mix of traditional and holistic that she offered; my local vet is good but does not have that additional training.
