It was, bar none, the worst experience we have ever had with a contractor of any kind.
In the end, the operating owner/manager was unprofessional, aggressive and rude to us when we tried to address all that had gone wrong. He treated the employees who had tried their best to solve the problems and work in a stressful, understaffed situation with a rudeness and callousness that was offensive to witness.
We will never do business with this company again, and do not recommend them for any job.
**In response to the company's posting: There are multiple factual inaccuracies. If I could post pictures to provide the facts, I can and I would. I have used a variety of contractors over the past 20+ years of home ownership, and never complained about one. This experience is a first for us. In addition, the few corrections listed by Curtis where solutions we had to come up with, as they did not even notice the problem when they first completed the job incorrectly. One important truth to note is that the system was not fully functional with in the original quote. To claim that is a complete fabrication.
Also, we recently found upon entering our our attic where the system was installed, a small grey door with a screw that obviously belongs to the equipment just lying on the attic floor, and all of our personal items shoved into a heap in such a way than many were damaged. Also, the intake duct was placed in such a way that the entrance to our storage area was completely blocked. This was not necessary and was fixed quickly by another company. Our system does not work as we expected, with one side of the house getting very little air, and the other getting too much. The poorly completed work continues to be a problem for us and I continue to deeply regret using this company. I have saved my rating as an F for quality and cost, because there is no price difference, in retrospect, that would make all of this worth saving a few hundred dollars.
"We would like to start by saying that our company has been in business for over 32 years, over these years our company has earned an outsatnding reputation not only for the quality of our work, but also for the care with which we treat our customers and their property. We have also learned in those 32 years that some projects, no matter how much you try, go as planned. We have also learned that there are always answers for why things did not go as planned. those reasons always vary, as is the case with this particular project. We made some mistakes, that we owned up to and corrected. One of our employees did not take enough care with the trim to the attic, so we installed new trim. There were two individual supply ducts that we ran in closets that could have been installed in away that would have saved a couple of inches of closet space. We changed both ducts so that they saved those couple of inches. Some other issues occured that were beyond our coontrol. The home has a problem with and electrical circuit that supplied about five recepticals and several lights. The problem coincided with our installation of the system. The owners and our company assumed that we were at fault. After we made several attempts to find the source of this problem it was agreed upon that the electrical problem should be looked at by and electrical contractor from the Crozet area. They could not do this work for a week, the visit was scheduled and the owners were notified. As it turned out we had nothing to do with this issue. An existing receptacle was the source of the problem. It took these electrical professionals 5-6 hours to find the solution and repair the problem. As for the holes that were cut to big, that is simply not the case. The largest space around any of the ducts installed in the closets was no more than a 1/2 inch. We also made metal rings that we installed around all of these ducts so that even the smallest gaps around the ducts were not exposed. In the end , we made all of the changes that were asked of us by the homeowners. I would like to add that while the project did take longer over all, the owners had a fully operational heating & cooling system within the discussed time frame. The performance of this system has never been questioned. On several of the visits we made to the residence, the temperature outside was between 95-100, the thermostat was set at 73 and the temperture in the home was 73. The owners of this home got exactly what was promised to them. An extremley efficient, professionally installed heat pump system. There were a few bumps in the road along the way, and we did everything on our power to overcome them. We are completley satisfied with the performance and quality of the system that we installed."
