The first lie was that they were going to lay a nail down floor. I didn't know it was NOT a nail down floor until I had to have to taken apart to throw it away. They only used rosin paper instead of vapor barrier, and floor began to bend within a couple days. I didn't know what was wrong at the time of course. I assumed they'd use a vapor barrier because they were supposed to be a professional floor installer! I immediately called the owner, Guille Yearwood, and he came out with the floor distributor and they both told me nothing was wrong and to run the dehumidifier. I was upset, but Guille Yearwood would do NOTHING about it. What a scumbag. The floor deteriorated until it had to be taken out. That's when I found out it was really only a floating floor. There is nothing Guille Yearwood didn't lie about, and though he promised to make it right after I first called if it didn't "work itself out" (they told me to turn on a dehumidifier!) he never did, and he was VERY nasty about it too. I patronized a local business which was down the street from me, rather than go to the big box stores so I would have someone who would stand behind their product and services. What a mistake that was with such a poor excuse for a business owner. I should have called the Town of Christiansburg immediately and they would have taken up part of the floor in an inspection and dealt with Yearwood. I was busy on the tenure track and didn't want to upset myself anymore with it, so I just believed them that it would straighten out, and regularly called about the floor still being warped. Quality floors personnel blamed my door wall, saying it was letting water in. This was not true, but they stuck with this story no matter what. I have a humid basement, and there was no vapor barrier so the floor warped. I know this because I finally called home owners insurance and they concluded there was no water getting in my house from outside, and they paid for the cost of the floor, minus my deductable. I had to pay for the cost of taking that floor out myself. Guille Yearwood does not stand behind his product or work; and he lies; don't do business with that guy. He seems very honest until you have a problem. It was just a terrible experience.
