Nothing but amateurs! I held this review because I was told, by somebody working for Crockett, that they were going out of business. I am not surprised that my relationship with them ended in a lie. We signed a contract to remodel our only bathroom. Initially they promised to complete the bathroom in two weeks. Not being naïve, I assumed it would take a month. One year later we settled without the bathroom really being complete. This project was marred by incompetence. The first crew had intra-crew drama that we got sucked into. After that, we never knew who was coming or when. Weeks would pass with no work. In the meantime, we had plumbing emptying into buckets, pipe stubs for taking baths but no functioning shower, and half-finished tile. One would think that a contractor with 40 years of experience would know how to set a traditional subway tile pattern. Not the case. Tile had to come off the walls three times (not to mention the time they put the wrong grout color in, tried to grind it out, and ended just scratching all the tiles). Same with the floor tile, which also had to be lifted three times. Incompetent mud and paint crews. This bathroom had to be tapped, mudded, and painted multiple times because the contractors apparently didn’t know how to mud and sand a smooth tape seam. They seemed incapable of getting the shower riser straight when I could clearly see the fix. They blamed the slow pace of supply chain problems. However, the contractor we hired to do our kitchen at the same time completed their work according to the agreed upon schedule--no supply-chain excuses there. They didn’t respect our house; we had sheet rock mud and paint on the floors and on our furniture. Drop cloths seemed to be an alien concept to these folks. In sum, if you want incompetent people tearing into your house, then, by all means, Crockett is for you.

Process was wonder from start to finish. Price was in line with other contractors. The guys doing the work were prompt vary curtious. Job site was vary clean through out the entire job. Me. Crockett followed threw with everything we had discussed in the planning stages. Me.Lilly made sure project stayed in line and on schedule. I would definitely have them do any of my projects from here on out!

Was told it would take 2 weeks to complete job. Job completed 10 weeks later only to be torn out and started over after I complained to owner. Shower walls were torn out twice and floor of shower 3 times. Crockett was to return and fix molding and painting after the last floor replacement. I have called 3 times to arrange for cleanup and painting to be be completed and have yet to get a return call from George Crockett. One guy broke a pipe off in the floor of bathroom and it stained the ceiling below in family room. This repair was also not completed. I highly recommend. finding another contractor if you are going to do any remodeling.

At first everything went very well and they were punctual and the carpenters were super knowledgeable and skilled...for about a month. We were quite impressed and the porch roofs look great and were definitely planning on hiring them again. But then, when 99% of the work was done, they just stopped showing up and things fell apart. The last time they were out here was over a month ago and never finished the job. They left several fist-sized holes into our roof (where the porch roof attaches to the house roof) and we have since found 2 mice in the house...let's hope that's all and there aren't raccoons living in our attic. There are also a few other small issues that haven't been addressed, mainly cosmetic. I have called them several times and I was assured the problems would be fixed soon but they haven't been true to their word. The other part of our agreed upon project is the replacement of our back door, which has also not been done. At this point my hopes aren't high for this project and we will most likely hire someone else to finish the job. I have never been made to feel so unimportant as a customer before and this is unacceptable

Outstanding company to work with. Polite and very knowledgeable. Staff were professional and courteous and cleaned up afterwards. Other than the fixed siding problems, couldn't tell they had been here. Cost was extremely reasonable and well below the competitors.

I called and asked someone to come out and evaluate a possible roof leak. They were the only company of 4 that said they charge $50.00 just to come look at it. Then they never even called me to schedule the appointment! Now that I've called 3 others that have come for free, I guess it's a blessing in disguise. However, not returning calls is highly unprofessional regardless of whether or not you charge for an initial visit.

Great! George came to look at the gutters the day after I called it in and scheduled replacement for the following week. The crew came as scheduled and worked efficiently to do the replacement - very professional and quality work. Removed old gutters and cleaned up before leaving.

We were assured that they could easily and quickly do this job. After giving them a large deposit, they quickly put up the screen and then went dark. After tracking them down we were told that a spiral staircase would take months to arrive and cost much more than the estimate as there were no local businesses that make them. After repeated attempts to get them to complete the job, we called it quits and asked for our money back. The porch screening is not complete as there are gaps between the framing and wall, they didn't finish the paint job, and they kept a LARGE chunk of our deposit . We asked them to at least finish the screening, but they ignored our requests. Meanwhile, we found that there is a spiral staircase company in Roanoke and they are finishing the job. How can we find this out, but a contractor can't?

The crew hired to take off the old metal roof and put a new one on left a lot of the bricks in the yard from tearing down an old chimney to roof level as well as the metal bands with nails that came off the old roof. When we complained, Crockett sent someone to move the bricks to the side of the yard and raked the yard for the metal. I continue to find nails in the yard. The end of one of the eaves came off right away and when the guy in charge of the work was called he said he'd come and look at it but never did. So this is the second spring that we've had starlings nesting there. (Yes, my husband should have fixed it but that doesn't excuse shoddy work and no return of the project manager.) Replacing the air handlers in very tight spaces was a very difficult job. Obviously, it had been done before to even have something to replace. But the first people to install them didn't curse. At all. (Don't have any kids around if this guy works at your house.) Then he had the drain of one of them run right on the ground under the house instead of running it outside. We called and he came back to do it right. Next, it leaked all over the floor, twice. It was fixed, also. This same "electrician" botched up the bathroom. He only had to replace the old wire with new, changing nothing. What I have now is NO power to the baseboard heater. He told us it had NEVER been connected! Then how did we use it for 25 years? I have to use a space heater now WHICH IS PLUGGED INTO A MAKESHIFT OUTLET instead of the one that was already there to the right of the sink that doesn't work anymore and he can't get it to work. The new outlet is actually hooked up through the wall from a light switch we hadn't installed yet. Well, we won't be doing that now. The reason it's wired from the other side of the wall is because we rejected his initial fix. That was to run a wire across the ceiling over the mirror. When he took it down, it left holes in the newly finished ceiling. The new outlet is right next to the door on the left of the mirror over the sink. We don't have any lefties that need to dry their hair. And we have to step over that heater to get to the sink. It runs all the time. The worst thing about the wiring is that they wouldn't use my diagram of which wire fed what in the house. They just ripped them all out of the old panel and said they'd figure it out. So, when a pipe burst on the back porch from the days and days of below freezing temperatures, my husband turned off the breaker to the well pump so we could drain the pipes and fix it. Guess what? That breaker DOESN'T GO TO THE WELL PUMP! He had to go out and walk through the creek to turn it off at the well! And back to the house to see if his fix leaked and back to the wellhouse when it was still leaking a little and back to turn it on again. We haven't traced what wiring is actually hooked up to the well pump. Minor things include denting my dryer when it was moved and not replacing the "hatch" in the ceiling on the back porch where they accessed the wiring. I know there's more but I'm tired of typing. I'll think of it when I quit, I'm sure. It steams us that we paid so much for this work. Several people said we paid way too much. We were too trusting and aren't the kind of people who complain. I know that for something this major we should have, until everything was right. How we let go when told that "this never worked" and "this outlet doesn't work anymore" I don't know. That's our own fault.

They were on time and professional. Did a good job. I would have used them again if not for the $200 service charge, which I thought was a little excessive. And I didn't know that ahead of time and when I asked if they would be charging that per service call, they said yes. If you are ok with that, then they were good.
