"It's disheartening when a post is written negatively about the contractor because the client's budget & scope were not in sync. It's important to realize that every contractor will price things differently based on overhead and labor rates. Knowing the budget is useful to help determine if all aspects of the project will be achievable given that budget. In this case, a mortgage consultant advised the client of what her allowable budget for the project was. Plans were drawn up by an architect who included what he felt could be done for that budget. Unfortunately, we were simply not able to provide all of the amenities that the client wanted at that budget (I honestly don't think any reputable company could for that matter). I had offered revisions and suggestions so we could work toward the budget - however the client chose not to entertain those and instead cut communication. For those of you that have worked with us before, you know how important communication is to us. There will always be struggles on any project if the communication is not there - regardless of what type of project it is. To say that I was 'irritated' and that I 'berated' the client is simply not true...sometimes people can only hear what they want to hear. I understand we're not always the best fit for each project and I truly meant it when I wished her the best of luck."
"This is an inaccurate report. I followed up with the county as I told the homeowner I would and sent her a detailed email with cost & county requirements the next week to make the repairs to the stairs. I also sent a follow up email to make sure she didn't have any questions. There was no response from the client after my follow up - which led me to believe that she either went with another contractor or resolved the issue with her old contractor - and didn't feel it was necessary to notify me. I am very sensitive to people's time and have always been upfront if a project is out of our scope or schedule does not allow us to get to it on the homeowners timeline. Communication is extremely important in all phases of the construction process and I simply would not meet with a homeowner and then never get back to them...not only is that unprofessional but it is a waste of their time and my time as well."
