We were referred to Jenkins Restoration by our insurance company following a huge storm that brought several trees down around our home. There was some damage to our gutters and siding, both from the trees and from wind damage. Jenkins was contacted to do the repair work, at minimum some sections of gutter and a small section of siding. Upon contacting them, we told them we were interested in getting estimates for the minimum (what insurance would cover) as well as a total siding replacement since our siding is rather old. They had dollar signs in their eyes because they got someone out in a hurry for the estimate. The estimate was a bit on the high side but we originally planned to go ahead and do it. So we called them. And we called them. And we left messages. They did NOTHING to get back in touch with us. At this stage nothing had been done and we still had trees down in our yard. The man who gave the estimate had said "they had people to do the tree work." But they never made it clear how this was to be handled, and THEY WOULDN'T RETURN OUR NUMEROUS CALLS. After several days, they finally contacted us (not at the number we had given them multiple times) and we learned we were on our own to get the trees taken care of before they would do anything. At this point more than a week had elapsed and we had gotten NOTHING done. We decided to just get the minimum service performed and we were ready to contact our insurance rep and get another contractor. This experience was actually what prompted us to join Angie's list. We were so disgusted with Jenkins we wanted a good experience with the tree work, and Angie's list came through. Our tree guys were great, but they were in high demand so we had to wait several days to get the work done. But it was worth it (thanks, Angie's list.) At this stage we finally had gotten through to Jenkins and they said they were going to send a man by to take the necessary measurements. Maybe they did- I don't even know. What I can say is that the only reason we had Jenkins do any work at all was because a man showed up that we THOUGHT was from Jenkins, but we later learned it was the man from Miss Utility. He had been called out by the (awesome) tree service guys before they ground our stumps. Just so it's clear- we allowed Jenkins to do the work we had agreed on more than a month prior because we mistakenly thought the guy in our yard was sent by them. We should have our heads examined. On the day they were finally supposed to be there, THEY WERE A NO SHOW. And WE had to contact THEM to find out why. So they rescheduled for later that week. And when that day came, the only guys that showed up were there for the gutters and they were quite clear they weren't going to touch our siding. I called the rep who for once answered right away (he thought both crews were on site.) He assured me that all the work was getting done but I had to tell him that his siding men weren't there. So he got his guys on the line, and they finally came by and did the work and you know what? The work is fine. And their rep apologized and said it was his fault and that they were extremely busy after the storms and had overextended themselves. And I'm sure that's all true. But it doesn't make up for all those days of high blood pressure and callbacks and no shows and not even getting a freaking phone call. In any case, the long story short is that the total turnaround between the storm and the repairs was way more than a month, and it was because of the extremely poor communication of Jenkins- first regarding whether or not "their guys" were going to be involved for the tree work and later because of avoidance? Neglect? Who knows? Jenkins, that isn't how you treat customers. It says a lot that we have literally no complaints with the actual services rendered and that only earns them a "D."
Description of Work: Never had a worse experience with communication or customer service. But services rendered were OK.
