They were on time, extremely efficient getting the permits from the county and getting the inspection immediately upon completion of the project. We have been dealing with several contractors because we have an older home that needs updating in every room. Castle Chimney by far was the most professional, on time, responsive and communicative contractor we have dealt with to date. The only reason I gave them a B on price was because after we met Stuart the owner we decided we really liked him and wanted his company to do our fireplace. So we did not get other estimates. For what they did we feel it was a good and fair price.

Very nice people, did a very through job and no mess. Suggested repairs that needed to be made, gave suggestions how to lower the cost, i.e., coupon and cleaning discount for doing the cleaning. Felt the estimate for repairs was vet high, but have never had to make these repairs before, so this could be the going rate.

These guys are great. Stuart kept me up to date on everything that was done. He contacted the city building inspector and arranged for the final inspection. The rest of the crew were also very professional. Very mannerly and nice guys. Could not have gone better. Best price for the required service. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

We called Castle Chimney Sweeps after they were recommended by our roofing company. The appointment setter took our information and asked questions regarding the work then called to confirm one business day before the appointment. The owner Stuart called half an hour before arriving to let us know that he and Anthony were on their way and to confirm the information about our job. After they arrived, Stuart listened to any concerns we had about our chimney and answered all our questions. We also had a couple of unrelated questions that he kindly answered for us. After his inspection, he gave us a price for installing the cap. When we asked about options for sealing the flues, he additionally quoted us for installation of top-mount dampers. The dampers are expensive, so he suggested seeing if the cap helped sufficiently with the chimney breath issue, which our fireplace usually has for days after heavy rain. It was a pleasure to deal with such a pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable professional. They got the job done quickly and left everything clean on a 100-degree day. And the cap looks great. We have nothing but good things to say about Castle Chimney Sweeps. We will definitely call on them again.

He cleaned my fireplace and chimney and it was the best cleaning that I've had since living here for four years. We had it cleaned every year but not as good and thorough as this. Even on rainy days I haven't smelled any odor. Check out his website and he'll explain why. He even pulled out old bricks that were dropped in 40 years ago. No one even mentioned that. Wish everyone in business had his work ethic. Seems to be a thing of the past. I would recommend him highly. He was on time and very neat.

I found the people are Castle Chimney to be professional, informative, experienced and friendly. They came when they said they would be there and finished the job on time. They left the house clean (not even dust!). Stuart cleaned the chimney and did an inspection with his camera. He went over the problems with me with the live video camera. Although the job turned out to be a bigger job then just a chimney cleaning, I never felt pressured to make an on-the-spot decision, and they sent me photographs of the problem areas and a detailed estimate. Having never had work done on my chimney before (which explains the poor condition), it is hard to make a judgement about the price, but I checked with the BBB and they had an A+ rating with no complains ever, so I was pretty sure it was a competitive price. Also, when I inquired about a senior citizen discount, Stuart let me know about a ten percent coupon on their web-site which helped.

When I was using them, I don't think I was on Angie's List.  I liked them just fine.  They were neat and kept up after themselves.  They were there when they said they would be.

We hired Castle Chimney Sweeps to replace a missing damper and to clean and seal the fire box and surrounding bricks blackened by soot from the previous owners use of a wood stove. Due to smoke allergies and asthma, we needed the fire box and bricks cleaned and sealed. We also needed a damper installed (none present) to seal the chimney from drafts. We also wanted to be sure there were no safety issues.
Owner Stuart Merting conducted a thorough examination of the fire box and interior and exterior of the chimney for structural deterioration, as well as fire and fume hazards . During his inspection, he took detailed photos of the top of the chimney and down into the interior of the chimney using a camera scope. Using the photos as reference, he then discussed his findings with us, most considered both fire and fume hazards. Thoroughly pleased with the details and explanation, we scheduled the job, which took a total of 3 days from demolition to final county inspection. Photos were taken during and after the job to show us what was being done. A county inspector examined everything when the work was complete.
The cement crown of our chimney was cracked and deteriorated, so it was removed and replaced. The current flue, narrow for use with a wood stove, was not up-to-fire-code for normal use and was removed and replaced with a larger diameter flue. For optimal weather sealing and insulation, a top-mounted, high efficiency damper with its brass pull-chain handle mounted inside the fire box for easy access was installed. For further insulation, Thermix, a material which expands inside the chimney, was poured into the empty spaces around the flue to seal against drafts. The final part of the job involved cleaning and paint-sealing the fire box in black and removing as much as possible of the soot from the wood stove that had soaked into the hearth bricks. Both processes involved chemical use; however, a high-power, reversed fan at the top of the chimney was used, so that we were unable to detect any odor. Clean-up of the exterior and interior work spaces was perfect.

Kept us alerted ahead of time to remind us of the cleaning date, and then called to let us know when they would be here, which I appreciate. Worked quickly and efficently and warned us of a potential problem by the last chimney sweep we had. Had suggestions on how to resolve the problem. Haven't gotten the secondary problem taken care of yet.

They called two hours ahead of their 2pm scheduled time because they finished other visits earlier than expected and wanted to know if they can come early before 2pm. Both gentleman arrived early around 1pm to inspect chimney and cleaning. Both men was very professional and courteous. We already get out chimney serviced once every year, and this was the first time this year it was being serviced. The gentleman stated that our chimney isn't dirty and it didn't need to be clean, so he cut the charge of the cleaning which was really nice. He also inspected the chimney and found that we needed a new chimney cap, and some cementing on the top of the chimney. We got the chimney cap installed and will make another appointment to have them fix the crack on top of the chimney which we didn't know a crack wass there until we saw the pictures he took once he was up on the roof. We knew it was our roof and not a random roof because we could see our neighbors house and backyard in the picture. Again, very professional and will use their services in the future.

Very professional analysis and diagnosis of chimney issues. Work was done swiftly and with zero mess left over, which is a neat trick when working with a fire place. Installed a new flue and shored up chimney.
Would definitely use them again. They are not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for with this company.

Stuart did a great job of explaining the problems caused by the builder and the need to do the extensive remodel in order to fix the problem. He went beyond what was usual by hunting for the aluminum siding to match the original in order to achieve the best look. I would use his company again. I know he will back up his repair work if anything goes awry in the future with the job.

Replaced the rusted pan with a custom, pre-formed pan and matched the paint. Left the remaining paint with us for future use and reference. New chimney cap as well. This was for a gas fireplace with pre-fab/framed chimney. Fantastic job, at a reasonable price. Punctual and professional. Cost reflects chimney repair only. Cleaned the gutters for a reasonable add-on cost as well. Will use again and recommend. Thanks!

The entire job was arranged by phone to make the appointment for the estimate and the job. The technician was very knowledgeable about the work that was required and provided very useful recommendations and observations about the requested work. There was considerations given to the best type of chimney cap to use as well as considerations regarding the weather to ensure the temperature was warm enough to install the new mortar. It was not possible to complete the gutter cleaning on the same day due to inclement weather. But arrangements were made to reschedule and the work was completed as soon as the weather permitted, between two snow storms. The work was completed without supervision and updates were provided. A written estimate was provided and coordination to make payment was made with phone calls and voice mail, all in a timely manner.

They were there on time to do the inspection and were very professional. The day of installation there was a bit of a problem as part of an old flu fell and did a little sheetrock damage as well as damaging air supply line to a fireplace. They immediately secured the area and scheduled a time to come and make the repairs. They were prompt and from what we can see, the repairs looks great.
The most important part of this review is that they were very responsible and quick in getting the repairs done.

They really went the extra mile. There were problems and they actually found ways to bypass them. They were really good. They knew what they were doing and in the end, they saved me a lot of money by doing some creative work.
