ALWAYS GREEN

First and foremost, they are expensive. You can find less expensive options with companies that have comparable results. More importantly, they are infuriating to deal with. The Jeff & employees are arrogant, they have an attitude of 'trust us, do what we say, don't ask too many questions', but fail to communicate the TOTAL cost of work. He led us to believe that his services would completely turn over our lawn for a particular price (not cheap);  our lawn is in the worst shape ever. They get frustrated when you question what they are doing -- for example, we did not want a particular treatment in our backyard but they insisted on doing it (the friends who also use them later disclosed that they have the same issues with Always Green Lawn not listening or respecting their wishes). In fact, when we asked why their treatment wasn't working and why people on the internet suggest different treatments, his response was "I have been doing this for 30 years". ( I am a Master Gardener and know how to care for my lawn, however, wanted to "outsource" lawn care and concentrate on my garden this year.  Three children has me prioritizing my time differently these days).  When I questioned Jeff about a few of his chosen treatments, watering practices, etc. he became defensive. The original estimator incorrectly stated what kind of grass we had in the backyard, and when we insisted to him that it was not that type of grass (effecting the treatment), he was defiant and relying on his incorrect notes. This is telling of the type of people who work there, not willing to even acknowledge basic facts.  When it came time to aerate and seed, I happened to be home (however, the employee didn't realize), and I watched as he did a horrible job of seeding and aerating.  He skipped a whole side of lawn, there was more grass seed on our sidewalk then there was on our lawn.  I'm spent a lot of money for the worst looking lawn ever.  It was in better shape when I cared for it part-time. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!  YOU'LL BE POURING YOUR MONEY INTO THE CHESAPEAKE BAY.

I have a yearly contract with them and they do outstanding work, they also do aerating in the fall. Always punctual and offer me great service every time. I live in a transition zone and it is tough to grow grass and they are very knowledge of local treatment requirements.

Several times now I have been surprised when they arrive. Either I'm not given notice or given incorrect times and am caught unprepared (lawn not cut to the requested height) when they arrive. They are very good about giving follow-up instructions to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments. My calls are always returned promptly, but they don't consistently follow through.

We have used the service for years. We have never had any negative experiences. We always felt the price was honest. My husband pays it so I don't know what it is, but he has never complained. They never skip you when it is your day for service. They use a professional crew to do the job.
