FLAGSTOP CAR WASH & QUICK LUBE

Inspecting the car's interior earlier in the shade of Flagstop's awning I had noticed an area of a coffee spill on the passenger's door threshold that was immediately attended to. The attendant also took the time to point out scratched surfaces on the rear and back bumper of the Cruiser. Both areas I was familiar with. Being curious of the Rain-X treatment process I asked about the "coverage" of the treatment. An answer came from another attendant, whom was identified by the first attendant as a manager. For the record - Rain-X treatment should last two weeks on the glass and four weeks on the paint.

Later in the day I found sunlight playing on my car's dashboard. The angle of the light revealed dust still on the center dashboard of the Cruiser. This then prompted my attention to other areas that I had assumed were taken care of. Dust was noticed on the steering wheel housing. And in a cup holder within the center console was an area of spillage and residue that had not been attended to in the first place.

Now nearly six hours later I have backtracked to Flagstop to find out if this was SOP, or an oversight. To make sure of my questioning I recovered the receipt from the morning and noticed a surcharge of $2 for Van/SUV. A Chrysler PT Cruiser is not a van, nor a SUV. So i had another question to get answered.

The clerk who had assisted me in the morning was still on duty and called for a manager to assist with the dust situation as, so I was told, the dashboard should have been wiped down.

The $2 surcharge, I was told, was because the vacuuming of the vehicle required access to the rear through the hatchback. Acknowledging that the Cruiser was not a van, nor an SUV it was necessary to open the hatch to do the rear vacuuming, hence the surcharge.

The manager, Phillip, came out and accompanied me to the Cruiser. He was apologetic for the oversight in the morning. The oversight with wipe down of the dashboard may have been because their attendants are cautioned to be careful with the radio/CD players of all vehicles. The center console cup holder may have been overlooked because an attendant sitting in the drivers seat may not have seen the area in question.

So, again, I start off on my way. Guess what? Sunlight again plays across the dashboard and dust is still seen. There still seems to be unattended areas. Throughout the car, when I return home, are missed spots. These include the tops of the windows that are inside the door to seal out rain and wash water. The windows needed lowering and attention with cloth and Windex. There are areas alongside the seat and console area that still need vacuuming.

I conclude that my expectations were too high for what Flagstop was offering. A $30 full service wash, with Rain-X Surface Protectant, Black Magic Tire Dressing (?), Wheel Cleaning, Triple foam polish, interior vacuum, window cleaning, exterior wash and air freshener (declined) wasn't the complete deal I was looking for.

Would I use Flagstop again? Yes. But NOT this particular location. And if I am not satisfied the next time it will be the last time I'll use Flagstop. They were recommended, but did not live up to my expectations.
