The people who work here are very nice and were responsive to my questions. I was looking for good compost that I could use to fill my raised bed garden. I only purchased 1cy to verify quality before ordering the 10cy in actually needed. I brought my own truck and they were quick to dump the two scoops of compost into my truck.
I have a homemade sifter with 1/4 in holes in it. I sifted the entire 1cy of compost purchased and was shocked at what I found. I found almost an entire 5 gallon bucket full of plastic, metal wire, broken glass, and various other things. I was shocked at the amount of garbage I found in the compost. There was a large amount of mulch (large wood pieces) which did not bother me since it is to be expected with organic compost. I then decided to do the water separation test to determine how much sand to organic matter the compost contained. I did 10 test from various spots in the compost. What I found was approximately 60% of the compost was actually sand.
Since I was stuck with it I put it all into a 4ftx8ftx12in raised bed. This bed was by far my worse performing bed. After a good rain I would watch the water not penetrate through the compost. There would also be lines of sand after a good rain. Needless to say this compost was a horrible idea. I found several other places in the area which were better options for compost.
I honestly have no desire to purchase compost from them again. They offer other services I can not comment on but compost is out of the question.
