Staff was great and very helpful. Made great recommendations. Did not try to oversale and make
a higher price. Kept it simple and the price was good with an excellent product.  I will definitely use them again.

Work went great. Quote was right on and completed earlier than expected. Clerk was professional and took the time to answer all my questions. Would not hesitate to use this business again.

They are local.  They are very good.  When my hard drive crashed the guy was actually able to save everything and put it on a new hard drive.  I don't know how he did that, he's a magician.  They are knowledgeable and they know their stuff.  They are honest.  I didn't just use them one time but I went back there.  I bought a flat screen monitor as well from them.  He's not the first computer repair guy I went to.  The first guy was horrible and he was going under.  Every time I turned around the price went up.  Providence Computers is totally the way it should be and I would recommend this place to anybody.  In fact I have recommended them to people.  It's the same people that work there and they don't have a huge turnover of employees.  When I go back in a year later it's the same guy that worked on my computer before.

I've never had a problem with any used part I've bought there; and they have a good selection of older and hard to find parts.  Two very, very minor things concern me: the first is that no matter how often I go by there, I never seem to see the same people working there.  Do they rotate the front staff or do they just have a high turnover ? If they have a high turnover, there's usually a (bad) reason for that. The second thing really relates to their staff communication. Their owner ( at least at one time ) did some very nice charity work in association with the Speed the Light Project.  They would take in dead/older computer gear and if repairable, donate it to small churches globally.  If it couldn't be repaired, they had a certified recycler that would come by once a month; so the dead stuff wouldn't just go in the landfill.  I've been donating gear through them for years.  Back in, I want to say, August I went by with some used but working older gear and told the person working the front desk that I wanted to donate it to the Speed the Light Project that they supported. The person told me that they didn't do anything like that and that he had no idea what I was talking about.  It was like I'd gone to the wrong store; I got a very creepy vibe from the encounter. The least the guy could have done was say, "Hold on and let me ask our manager about this." I sincerely hope that this wasn't the byproduct of a 'you need us, we don't need you' attitude.
Response from Providence Computers

"[removed member name], we did donate a lot of parts and used or refurbished computers to Project Light in Virginia Beach. I'm sorry the employee at the time did not seem to be informed and perhaps he/she was new and was not aware. I do a lot of charitable giving and much of it is handled exclusively by me and not always known to everyone."

I needed my laptop fixed, the fan was burned out and it needed to be cleaned up both physically and program wise. I called and the guy told me the work would cost 59.00 plus the cost of parts. so I took the thing in. I dropped it off on febuary 11th and didnt get it back for a month! but It was fixed and cleaned of dirt very nicely. my only complaints are it took a long time, the cost was not as quoted and they didnt do the other clean up until I asked the day of pick up. over all it was a good experience. one reason it took so long is because the part took a while to get here
Response from Providence Computers

"Some parts can unfortunately be only purchased from foreign locations. This may take an extra 2-3 weeks over our normal return."

The technician was able to re-flow the solder for the video chip and also realized that I had one of the two hard drives having some potential serious issues. We decided to replace both hard drives and I was able to setup my RAID as I wanted it to be from the day I purchased it.

Second time we have brought our computer in for the same problem. First time was in April and less than 5 months later the same problem and ended up having to pay more. Plus when waiting to pay the guy just kept talking to the lady in front of me for a long time and did not stop the lady so he can take my payment. I had to go down the hall and find someone working in their office to find someone to take my payment. Customer service is poor. Wouldn't give me the option to pay over the phone and seemed to want my computer picked up as soon as possible and would not let me wait until the weekend to pick it up. I would never use this company again!
Response from Providence Computers

"The computer was in for new RAM and a hard drive defrag and clean in April. It was back in in July for a failed power supply and you purchased a new one. It came back in in Sept so that files could be transferred to your laptop."

The new hardware has been installed but is not functioning properly. I thought they would have told me that, especially if something needed to be addressed. You come in and pay them and take the computer home, but there is no extra help. I just wish they would be a little more kind and a little more helpful. They are very Christian and have signs posted about praying, but I just wish they would be a little kinder with me. They have had my computer ready every time I have went in to get it, so that is a plus.

It went very well. They were polite and nice. I paid extra for next day service, but they actually finished it the same day I took it in. I have had no problems since.
