"Although it doesn’t happen often, it is always distressing to hear that someone is not 100% happy with the service they received from us. It is even more distressing when we are hearing about it for the first time, almost 2 years after the job was completed. Obviously, it is impossible to remember all the details of discussions and services from so long ago. Luckily we have detailed call logs and invoices that we can refer to in order to respond to this customers review. The customer purchased 2 hours of labor for $89 (40% off regular rate) on August 19th, 2013. We emailed her that same day thanking her for purchasing our services, and asking what the scope of work would be. We were able to speak to her on the phone the next day. She wanted an exhaust fan in her guest bathroom replaced, a completely new exhaust fan (wiring, ducting, etc) installed in her master bath, a fan in the living room evaluated and repaired, and a fan/light/dimmer in her daughter’s room evaluated and repaired. It was explained to her that all of that work would take longer than the 2 hours she purchased, but we would apply her purchase to the job. We estimated 3.5-4 hours to complete it. She would be responsible for the balance of the labor, and the cost of any material we had to purchase. As we were asked to pick up the exhaust fans, there was a material charge of $195, which covered the cost of the 2 fans, as well as the wire and ductwork needed for the master bath fan. This charge reflected actual cost of the material – no markup. On August 26th, 2013 we did the work. The job ended up taking just under 4 hours. She was billed for the remaining 2 hours labor (at our regular rate) and the material. We NEVER charge for travel time. If we did, her bill would have been considerably higher since the job right before hers was over an hour away. I am not sure if she thought all of the labor would be billed at the discounted rate, or if the fans ended up being more than she had anticipated. Because nothing was brought to our attention at the time of service, or in the months that followed, we can only speculate. I do know that she was billed for the time we worked, and the cost of the materials used. And, that she received the full value of the 2 hours she had purchased. At this point all we can do is apologize for any confusion there may have been. Again, hearing about this for the first time almost 2 years later makes it difficult to address in any other way."
When I first called Parker Electric I had to leave a voice mail, but they were very prompt in getting back to me. I spoke with them on a Tuesday and got an appointment to look at the fan in my attic for that Thursday between 6-8 pm. Jason called just before 6.
I explained to him that I was having trouble finding someone to provide the service. He didn't have any trouble at all accessing the fan and installing the replacement. He was done in an hour, and he saved me a considerable amount of money. I'll definitely be calling him again.
