I signed the proposal in February. So far, they have finished about 2/3 of the project and that was only after I repeatedly had to contact the person at Angi to get them to show up. They only did 3 hours of work during the whole month of May (after I again appealed to the contact at Angi). At this rate, the fence may not be completed this year! When they do show up they do good work, but they have so many excuses for not showing up - truck broke down, car accident, someone borrowed equipment, on and on.... They currently have a bunch of junk all over my back yard. I would not recommend them at all! Fortunately I used Angi's so I've only paid part of the cost so far.

When I sat down and signed the contract, I was told he is the only one he feels is qualified well enough in the company to complete the deck so he will be the one working on it. We were told it would be half up front and the rest at the completion. When the deck was going in it was found underneath the doors the the sun room was rotted out. Needed to be replaced and we would need to replace the old glass sliding doors also. We purchased them and he knew a guy would would put them in, replace the rotted out wood and trim out the door. for the 12 days it took to get the doors finally installed, we asked how much it was going to cost. He never told be. Mean while, he knew a guy who dig out the area for our pool, again never told us the price. nothing was signed on a contract he just got it done. We thought it was a favor for taking so long on getting the deck completed. The doors were the only thing that was installed he had to fix the rot. It took a month and a half to get the trim put up on the inside.. Again did not tell me it would cost me a dime. During the whole duration of the deck, I had the worst time trying to get in touch with him. He would not return emails, calls or texts. He would tell me that he was coming over that day first thing and I would not see or here from him for a few days. He was not solely dedicated to doing our deck, he kept working on fences, driveways and anything but our deck. It started feeling like he was using our deck as a weekend hobby. Now the deck is completed and I paid the remaining balance of the contract, he wants money for the other things he had completed while I was waiting on the deck to get completed. I do not have anything on a contract and I never agreed to any price or anything, he just went and got them done without my approval. He does a great job at building decks, but he is the worst at communication and promises. I would be very careful hiring him for any job that takes longer than a day if you want it done in a quick fashion.

Jand G Fence and Deck was one of three companies I asked to provide an estimate to extend my fence and build a trash can enclosure. Greg arrived exactly when he said he would to provide an estimate. A previous company had been out and marked where they anticipated the corners of the fence would be. While he could have taken that opportunity to bad-mouth his competitor (as many contractors tend to do), he simply advised that particular company typically charged higher fees. As Jand G was the last company to provide their estimate, I knew based on my estimates that he was being honest. He assured me that he would be at my home for the duration of the project. Greg thanked me for the opportunity to earn my business and confirmed he would be available to start within days of my decision. Of the three, Greg was the only one to thank me.
The first company had a comparable estimate and after additional research I wasn't sure which company to choose. I emailed both and let them know their estimates were so close, that I couldn't use them to make my decision. I asked if they had any additional information I might find helpful to please let me know. Greg promptly called and asked how he could help. He assured me he understood my dilema and answered a couple of additional questions. I appreciated his sense of humor and patience. When the other company responded via email I chose Jand G. I spoke with Greg that evening, he made plans to call Miss Utility the next morning and hoped to begin work at the end of the week.
Miss Utility took a day longer than we anticipated, but in the mean time Greg purchased the supplies for my fence and delivered them. He returned the day after Miss Utility to place the posts and called me before he began to let me know after pulling the pins for my yard, he discovered my property was actually about 5 feet wider than he anticipated. With this new information we confirmed the layout of the trashcan enclosure and double gate.
I came home that evening and was welcomed by the sight of the new fence posts! True to his word, I arrived home two days later and found Greg finishing the framework. He confirmed he'd return the following morning and finish the job. He arrived the next day and finished the fence as promised! It looks fantastic and it works beautifully!
I am very happy with my decision to hire Jand G Fence and Deck. Based on this experience I have no qualms about choosing Jand G again when I add a deck next year.

I was very pleased with how well they put up the fence. They put the fence up board by board. They finished the fence in just two days and they cleaned up their mess when they were done. My fence looked great when they were done. They had reasonable pricing, and the only downfall was that they were very busy and it took them a while to get us on their schedule. They didn t tell us it would take so long. I didn t know the price because my husband dealt with that part.
