About Hampton Roads Termite and Pest Control Hampton Roads Termite and Pest Control Inc. is fast approaching its 30th year in business. Started by Principal owner Wayne Bradshaw and Michael Old in 1986, both grew up together locally in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. Both have a strong bond to the local and Hampton Roads area. It’s been important since the days when the business first opened to provide a personal service to our customers which reflects our local business feel, no matter how large we have grown. Because we have purposely kept ourselves in close proximity to our customers we can do things like set our inspection times on the hour instead of showing up “sometime tomorrow”. All of our inspectors, technicians, repairmen and pest control operators are highly trained and keep up with the latest technology and trends in the business. Your home is your most treasured asset. Jeremy and all other employees have been prompt, thorough and careful. The work was done when scheduled, and Jeremy came out several times to be sure that we were pest free. when we were having some moisture and mildew issues, he came right out and checked under the house to be sure that everything was still ok and to be sure that we didn't have a leak under there. THis company has had our annual contract for about 14 years and we are very satisfied. I would certainly recommend them.

Chris refused to enter the crawlspace under the house, even though we have a certification letter from Applied Labs proving there is no asbestos under the house. We've been here 13 years, we've had pest control and plumbing contractors under the house dozens of times, and Chris was the first person to refuse. I am absolutely livid. He kept insisting, "I know what asbestor looks like, and that is asbestos." Asbestor, cellulose, and fiberglass all look the same, all are friable, which is why you have to have it tested by a lab! You can't just look at it and know. I am so angry.

I contacted the office on Monday 12/28 to schedule service prior to the sale of my home. I received a relatively prompt response, requesting the name of the buyer, seller, and date of closing. I provided this and requested an appointment. I did not hear back. My realtor called me that afternoon to say that this company had an opening at noon. I emailed back to confirm that we were scheduled; again, did not hear back. Finally, on 12/30 I sent another message first thing in the morning asking for confirmation. I got an email back at 1130am confirming that the service would occur at 12noon. This was my first communication from the company that any service was going to occur. Very unprofessional.

Excellent work. Sales guy showed me signs of termites and explained my need for services. I got a few estimates and talked about what each one said. Hampton Roads Termite told me that some of the things the other companies said I needed I really didn't. But then he explained why I didn't need those services. In the end they made the better case and the cost was fair compared to other companies.

This provider was contacted as a result of prior satisfactory service.
Initial "one shot" inspection was scheduled promptly and convenient arrangements made by inspector with tenant living in the rental property. Inspector made contact with owner by phone, and follow up inspection was requested and completed. However, a written inspection report was not provided until a verbal request was made to the inspector. Report arrived more than 30 days after initial inspection.
Inspector was always diligent in follow up phone contacts.
A request was also made to the inspector to provide a proposal for corrective work for any identified problems/recommendations listed on the inspection report.. Work to correct a portion of the identified problems (full termite treatment) was requested by e-mail to the provider over two weeks ago with no response. Work is cancelled and another provider sought.

We have used Hampton Roads Termite since 1998 when we relocated to Hampton Roads. We work with Ed Baines every since. He calls to make appointments, is always on time, very thorough and answers all our questions. I am a service provider who frequently works with Hoarders and I have at least 5 clients who have hired Hampton Roads Termite for major projects. My clients have been very happy with the service. Their service is great. They are good people. We purchased a for closed home. We had termite damage in the garage that we needed repaired. They treated the house and we signed a contract with them.

They had been inspecting my property for several years. This year there was extensive termite damage that involved replacing an entire outside garage wall. I felt that earlier inspections must not have been done adequately for such invasive damage to occur within a year. They offered to do the work, but started with a very high offer which they were willing to negotiate because "I was a customer." I felt the original bid was doubled in order to make the second price sound more reasonable. I found another contractor who did the job at a much lower price.
I did not think their work was bad but I wasn't convinced that inspections were being adequately done or addressed. The (I assume) owner didn't seen interested in keeping my business

3 years ago Hampton Roads Pest came out and repaired extensive damage to the main load bearing beams under a house we had been renovating as well as some of the other floor beams. 6 months ago we noticed that the floor in the family room was sagging. We were in the midst of putting in new flooring in that room and when the contractor pulled up the floor plywood, he discovered that the repairs had not been done correctly. We called Hampton Roads Pest and were apprehensive that we would be on our own since there was only a year's warranty on the repairs and we were well past that. Danny came out, took one look and agreed that the repairs had not been done correctly. He apologized to us and got his guys out there within 2 days even though their schedule was crammed. They had the repairs done in a day and a half which meant that we were not put behind schedule on putting in the new floor. I am always impressed when a company makes things right. We will be sticking with them as our termite company.

The company fraudulently reported evidence of termite activity to sell a treatment that was completely unnecessary. In collusion with a local realtor they took advantage of an absentee seller. When a local contractor working on the house informed us that he was suspicious of termite activity we hired A-Active Termite Termite and Pest Control to re-inspect. Their findings as well as another licensed inspector confirmed that there was no evidence to justify the report or the expensive treatment. When asked by A-Active to re-visit the house and show the evidence of termite evidence Hampton Roads refused. With closing eminent they capitalized on the urgency of the moment and extorted the $680 out of us (the sellers). This is a totally unethical operation and we have the documentation to prove it. Buyer Beware!!!

Hampton Roads Termite has been inspecting our home for several years. They are always punctual and very professional. They call us to remind us when our yearly inspection is due, which I appreciate because I tend to forget. We haven't needed any extermination services yet. They did save us a lot of money by pointing out a plumbing leak under the house which we wouldn't have known about otherwise. We were able to get our plumber in to fix it before it caused substantial damage. We highly recommend them.
