Forrest Exterminating Service, Inc.

While selling our home in February 2021, home inspector found dehumidifier in the crawl space was unplugged, and when plugged in, did not function. We replaced it at a cost of $1250. When we bought the home in July 2019, that inspection also found the dehumidifier unplugged. Forrest Exterminating Service was called in 2019 to rectify the situation, and certified that the unit was functioning. Since no one had entered the crawl space since the Forrest service call in 2019, it is obvious that the Forrest employee did not plug the unit in or verify that it was functional. When contacted, Mr. Forrest ignored that his employee did not perform the service in question, and said he “didn’t know what he could do”. He wrote in an E-Mail, “After checking through (t)he records, that dehumidifier was serviced four years, 2015,2016,2017, 2018 and 2019.  (The service was not renewed in 2020.)  Four inspectors serviced it during that period.  If it had never been plugged in as you say, it seems unreasonable that not one of them would have noticed.  I do not understand how the inspector determined that it was never plugged in.” He also advised the employee who serviced the de-humidifier on July 29, 2019 left their company a couple of weeks later. As explained earlier, we told Mr. Forrest that the dehumidifier had obviously not been plugged in and verified as functional in 2019. At no time did we suggest the unit had “never” been plugged since its installation five years before we purchased the property. He simply chose to pretend he did not understand the issue, and focused his comments solely on the years before we purchased the home.

They have been very timely and very thorough. They send people underneath the house and go around. One time, they found some dead rodents. They took them out and disposed them and then made some improvements with the vapor barrier. They tripled the thickness of our vapor barrier, which was a big, big plus for moisture control and rodent control. We've been here a little over 20 years and we've used them the whole time. They're an A rated company. Normally, it's only about $200. But this year, they did a huge job with our vapor barrier. That came up to $1000. If was very extensive and very difficult work to do. Once we find a good reliable contractor, we tend to stay with them and use them as a reference point. Good people will recommend good people because it also reflects on their quality. The normal price has been inching up. But, I'd still have to give them an 'A' considering the quality of work. They're very meticulous people. They give a full face-to-face report. They don't run away and hide and send you something. They're always face-to-face, man-to-man, "This is what we found. This is what we want to do." You can negotiate with them. You can ask them technical questions or explanations. They provide solid recommendations and not just selling. They're actually explaining. They do a smart thing. They set their dates about a week to two weeks in advance. So, obviously they have some wriggle room if there are difficulties with other clients. They're within 10/15 minutes or sometimes a little early. That's why we've used them for so many years. When they say a time and we have to go out shopping and come back at that time, there they are. It's a great convenience to know that I can do something in the morning knowing he won't be here until say 1 o' clock in the afternoon. At 1 o'clock or 1:10, there they are. It's well managed and that's a key factor too. They're very polite. It's a family thing. I think they're on their third generation. They take pride in the company and their family.

We had a monthly contract with them and we had them for years. We pay them once a year. They are very reliable. If we have a problem we call them and they take care of it. The technician calls and reminds me and if I'm not going to be home I tell him. However, it will be nice if they will be cheaper.

After having a contract on home for over 30 years the residents passed away and their heir tried to continue service. After years of annual inspections with no defects they recommended $7500 in repairs needed to continue the service. Two other companies quoted less than $1000 each to provide treatment and provide annual contracts.

From start to finish of the initial pest control; perfect. I was told to call if anything came up between now and the next service date and they will send out the technician to retreat. It doesn't get any better than that!

We've had ants in our apartment. They have a bimonthly contract with Forrest Exterminators. They came the first time, put a bit of spray on one interior wall and left. The ants got worse for a few days and then better -- but then they came back with renewed numbers. They took over the dishwasher, the drier, and much of the kitchen around the walls.
When we were finally able to get our apartment to send them back out (two months later- though that is on the apartment) they only did more because I demanded it. In general, they were unresponsive and unhelpful.

*Update 8/26/13*

The exterminator supposedly came a third time (we were not present) and reported that he did not see any ants. He either lied about coming or did not look. Not only were there ants, but there were so many that we actually transported some of them to our new home when we left the apartment. When we came back to the apartment to pick up more boxes (after Forrest Exterminators came a third time) there were ants all over the kitchen floor.This guy was paid to come out three times and spent a total of probably 15 minutes in the apartment. He sprayed (twice!) for 15 seconds the first time and only at my absolute insistence stuck around long enough the second time to put gel out in several places the second time. Gel that apparently did nothing, since the ants didn't get any better. Avoid unless you like ants showing up in your infant's clean clothes and your coffee cup.

I'm very satisfied with them. They've been who we've used since we've lived here. We have nothing bad to say about them.

They come back if we have concerns. They are easy to schedule. Their price is reasonable.

They are very responsive and thorough. I liked their responsiveness. They are there the next day. They did take care of all the problems.

We have been using this company for about 30 years. We have a contract with them. Once a year they come up and do the crawlspace for us. They come when they are scheduled. They call before they show up. They are very clean and very thorough. They spray inside and outside of my house. They do an excellent job. They are also extremely polite. I will continue to use them in the future.

They did a good job. I would use them again in the future if needed.

They call us every year to let us know when its time to service. They have been pretty good. We have had them ever since we moved in.

Went very well. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had seen ants in our kitchen so we contacted them. I thought the cost was reasonable, they were prompt, they showed up on time, and they were professional. They do a good job and you get what you pay for. I don't plan on using that type of service again.

Forrest does what they say they are going to do and comes when they say they will. I have used them for awhile and am satisfied with their work.

I was having a problem with insects especially in the garage. Forrest came out to give me an estimate and I scheduled an appointment for the next week for the initial treatment. The serviceman came on time and treated the garage, inside and outside the house and in the attic. I signed a maintenance contract for one year's service. I've been happy with the results.

They come monthly and I have a yearly contract with them. They are usually very prompt if I need them to come back out for some reason. I’ve had them for a long time.
