In May of 2021 we hired Scott Perry, Colonial Chimney Sweeps to keep rain from coming in our fireplaces, and install a woodstove and new lock top damper cap. We decided to hire Scott and he came out unannounced to get the deposit. At that time he said he had already ordered the stove, before we even told him we would hire him. After waiting a couple of weeks for the stove to come in he came and did the install and put the crown coat and dampers on. Seemed okay until it rained. Water poured in the fireplaces even more than before he did anything. After a few attempts to contact Scott, he finally responded and came out in July. He sprayed something on the chimneys and said that would do it. Well it didn't work. Still leaking. After calling him numerous times and sending him text messages and emails, in September he said that he would be out. He didn't show up. Well the end of November we tried out the woodstove for the first time and smoke was coming into the room. We called him and sent text message and was out of town. December 10, 2021, Scott finally showed up and fixed the smoke problem. He was going to order something for the stove and would be out before Christmas. That didn't happen and we are still trying to get him out to fix the leaking problem. We have sent emails and pictures in text messages of water in the fireplaces and he does not respond. It has been eight months since we entered into our contract with Scott and Colonial Chimney Sweeps. We have started talking to our attorney but we would really like to work this our but Scott leaves us no choice but to proceed.

Colonial Chimney Sweeps had repaired my chimney crown in April 2012 for $250. The chimney crown deteriorated and needed repaired after less than 2 years. I called Colonial Chimney Sweeps several times this July 2014 leaving messages. I did not hear back from Colonial Chimney Sweeps. My wife left a message and received a return call and scheduled an appointment for Colonial Chimney Sweeps to come out to repair the crown. After Scott inspect the chimney crown my wife was told that he did not know why the material had come off the crown and would need to contact the manufacturer. He also said that it would be repaired under warranty. I have called Colonial Chimney Sweeps a couple of times since, but only received their voice mail. I have not heard back from Colonial Chimney Sweeps. So I had to hire someone else to repair my chimney crown.

The crown was cracked and leaking.  Scott from Colonial Chimney came out and told me I needed a crown seal and new cap.  He told me the HomeSaver All Weather Crown Seal was the best in the industry and carried a 10 year warranty;  it was not the least expensive product but was exactly what I needed.  I went with it.  Within a year the crown seal was coming off in sheets the size of dinner plates, hanging from the top of my chimney and falling into the yard.  The chimney began to leak worse than ever before.  I phoned Scott and informed him of the problem via voice mail.  He never returned my call.  After repeated attempts to contact him, we spoke about the problem by phone.  Without coming out to take a look, he told me it was not his problem, that the manufacturer had to be contacted to make a warranty claim.  I made mutliple attempts via phone and email to contact the manufacturer.  They never responded to my any of my attempts.  I informed them via a very detailed email that Colonial Chimney Sweeps had done the job and that they would not stand by their work or the HomeSaver product.  Again, no response.
I have since had three different contractors look at the chimney, crown and seal.  They each came to the same conclusion: the product was not applied properly.  There is a certain prescribed prep process that was not followed by Scott at Colonial Chimney.  HomeSaver has been informed and yet they still continue to list, on their website, Colonial Chimney Sweeps as a recommended contractor.
Had the product been applied properly, I would have had no issues with the cost of the job.
There is no way I would recommend Colonial Chimney Sweeps OR HomeSaver products to anyone!

Poor;very, very unreliable. Did not show up for scheduled appointment and would not return phone calls. Apparently part-time operation only as is a full-time fireman.

They did a very good job on our chimneys. I do have a very tall chimney and they had to use a ladder to get that cleaned. I didn't have to provide them with any equipment as they had it all. I have used them in the past and they have always got right to work and get our job done correctly. I feel that they are very nice people to work with and they also have a great price.
