They did a good job. But some of siding came off a little while ago. They have been pretty unresponsive when I called them to try and get them to repair it. We got a pretty good value for the work that was done. They were otherwise fine. The work was done on time and they were on time. I had no complaints about the quality of the work or anything like that. I will have to think twice before I use them in the future.

The job took a bit longer than we had anticipated (nearly 3 weeks) but we realized after watching for several days that this type of roof does take time to install, and the end result was well worth the wait. Mark and the crew were here as promised, cleaned up well after the job, and were very careful not to damage our windsock and weather station! Mark also used a bit of ingenuity and custom-built our ridge vent and kitchen exhaust vent ... and he even painted our fireplace chimney to match the new roof.
We are very happy with our new look, and to date the roof has performed well - no leaks - through several nor'easters and a good-sized snowstorm. The chronic leak problem we'd had with the kitchen vent has vanished, thanks to Mark's custom work.
BCCS is polite, professional and thorough. We are pleased to recommend them.

He was very helpful and knowledgable. He was able to recommend other contractors for work he wasn't able to do. He even checked around the roof while the workers were up there to make sure everything was being repaired correctly. I am happy with his services.

Had new roof installed after Hurricane Isabel in 2007. We got a Certainteed Shingle roof, with a 5-year warrenty on work. We had another leak with Hurricane Irene, a couple of months before the warrenty expired. Came in the corner of our dining room upstairs. Two times they scheduled to look at it, both times they did not show up or bother to call to reschedule. Called day after day, left email, messages on cell phone, with the anwsering service, in their voice mailbox. I have reported them to BBB, they finally responded and said our dining room was on the first floor and not covered by a roof! They did not respond to the BBB again. I am about to report them to DPOR VA State licencing. I do NOT recommend them!

I requested and received multiple estimates for a few different ideas I had. Made a choice, signed contract, and made a down-payment on 14 June 2007. Contract states a 5-year warranty on Bradford-Cameron work.

Overall I thought the work went well... initially. It took approximately 2+ months for all the work to get done. I tipped 3 different crews (siding/trim, lead roofer on the ground, and painters) a total of $100 to get refreshments because it was very hot when (July) most of the work was being done. I don't know if there was a serious disconnect between Mr Spelts or the crews, but a lot of little things didn't turn out as I thought. I was glad that it was finally all completed.

During the final walk-through, there were several things I could have complained about, but I didn't because I didn't want to be that type of customer who complained about everything. Several things were discussed but never written down on the actual contract, so I didn't want to get into any debates. But this is what I chose not to press: Old gutters from rear of house left in backyard; cable box not re-attached to exterior wall; broken glass left outside bathroom window; old gable hole not covered with plywood before siding installed; 'headers' not installed where front porch rails are attached to wall; center bay window was supposed to be solid but double-sash window installed instead. But I did point out to Mr. Spelts that the sill of one kitchen window was sticking out about 1/4and quot; away from the wall. I thought it just needed pushing back in, so I told him that I would get it myself when I remodeled the kitchen (still dreaming of when that day will get here). Paid the balance 24 July 2007 and hoped there would be no reason to call for corrections/fixes.

DO WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING DISCUSSED AND AGREED UPON; type, color, number, measurements, etc. Make 2 copies and add to contract as an addendum - you and contractor sign. This way the contractor should not get mixed up or forget the details, and you have that extra document to remind the contractor what the agreement was if there is something not completed as agreed upon.

After some paint finishing was completed, I did ask that some siding be replaced where it looked like a ladder had left some dimples. Apparently the foam backing the siding got compressed and didn't let the siding return to its original shape. It was taken care of.

Then in October 2007 when I was going to get new gutters installed, I noticed some gaps showing up in the fascia and soffits. Called Mr. Spelts who eventually said the Millwork needs special 45 degree cuts and glue (apparently the Millwork shrinks more that wood in the when it gets cold and will leave huge gaps between adjacent pieces). This was not completed until March 1st, 2008.

I later got gutters installed from someone Mr. Spelts recommended. Happy with that choice.

In March of 2009, I finally decided to try to fix that sill sticking out from the wall in my kitchen. To my surprise, it was sticking out because the window was pushed in too far from the outside. So I did a closer inspection of all my windows, and it turns out that 5 of the 16 windows installed were sticking in too far or the trim around the window was actually spit / broken and nailed back in place. Since the work was still under warranty, I called Bradford-Cameron.... and kept a journal because of how long the other repair took.

30 March 2009. Called Bradford-Cameron. Receptionist sets an appointment with Mr. Spelts for April 1st.
1 April 2009. Mr. Spelts arrives, makes an assessment, and will have his workmen come out.
15 May 2009. Mr Spelts calls and says his workmen will be out the following week - we agree on May 18th.
18 May 2009. Two workmen arrive and determine the sills must be special ordered since they are not regular stock in stores. THEY TAKE A SILL WITH THEM - NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN.
9 June 2009. Call, leave message. No word from Mr. Spelts.
14 July 2009. No word from Mr. Spelts.
28 July 2009. I call Mr. Spelts and he says he will call me back the following day.
29 July 2009. No call from Mr. Spelts.
5 August 2009. 'Mark' called and said they need the measurements again to order and make the sills and trim.
7 August 2009. Mark arrives, assesses the windows in the kitchen and garage, acknowledges the problems, and I give him a diagram detailing the problems of all 5 of the windows.
17 September 2009. No calls from Bradford-Cameron. I call Mr. Spelts. He said he is still waiting on the sill materials, that Mark had to order them off the internet, currently being shipped, and that he would call me and quot;....as soon as it hits the floor.and quot;
March 2010 - no one has called me! It's been a full year now!!!
6 April 2010. I call Mr. Spelts. He said and quot;...things have been crazy...and quot; and next week he could pull a worker off a job because it would only take a half a day to fix my window issues and to call him Monday (I assume the trim has 'hit the floor').
12 April 2010. Monday - I'm in meetings all day, so I call the following day - Tuesday.
13 April 2010. Tuesday - Mr. Spelts doesn't answer, I leave a message, he never calls me back.
21 May 2010. I call Bradford-Cameron office. No answer, no answering service, no message service.
25 May 2010. I call Bradford-Cameron office, leave message for Mr. Spelts.
7 June 2010. I call Bradford-Cameron office. No answer, no answering service, no message service.
9 June 2010. I call Bradford-Cameron office. No answer, no answering service, no message service.
Approximately 10 June 2010, I sent an e-mail via the Bradford-Cameron website to all personnel listed.
Never heard anything back from anyone.
I obviously have shown plenty of patience, but I give up.
DO HAVE THE CONTRACTOR SIGN A PROMISSORY NOTE for promised repairs. Then you have something you can take into court with the confidence that it won't be a 'he said / he said' argument.

I didn't haggle over costs, I tipped the workers, and only had three post-work issues: the dimples in the siding, the gaps in the millwork (soffits), and the jacked up windows where they were shoved in too far. I didn't micro-manage or hover over the workers, and even helped when appropriate (e.g., ran the wires in the attic for the new exterior lighting). I thought a was a good customer and really didn't deserve this blow-off by Mr. Spelts and Bradford-Cameron.
THEY STILL HAVE THE SILL FROM MY GARAGE WINDOW. I wonder if the 'special order sill wood' is still on their floor with my name on it?!?!?
Sign a contract with Bradford-Cameron at your own risk.
My and quot;Bradford-Cameron Inc. Warrantyand quot; is still good through 24 July 2012. Doesn't seem to have any value.

We wanted to try them on a smaller project and see how it went, and it went well. The technicians we had on site we loved to death, the company is okay. George worked his tail off and he had a little helper. Between the two of them they knocked out the job. It seemed like the salesman under quote the job because they had to get more materials in the middle of the job, but they still held to the price and didn't try to renegotiate after they realized their error. The price was great, they were pretty much lower than everyone and that's why they were chosen. I didn't deal with the company as much as I dealt with George. As far as punctuality, they basically tell you they will be there sometime in the next 30 days.

When they came to put the roof on, they did not bring enough shingles to finish the job and the black paper on the roof was exposed all weekend. As Murphy's law would have it, it poured down rain that Sunday. I called an inspector who said the tar paper being exposed was OK. However, until I knew, that I was anxious about the situation. The roofer did not take the time to explain it to me. I had to call and find out why the tar paper was still exposed. Also, later on, water came in and damaged our bathroom ceiling because they did not caulk the base of the vent pipe properly. Then, we kept having water come into our garage. An inspector I called said that the flat rubber roof was not extended over the edge of the roof enough, another roofer said the same thing. I got a third oppinion from another roofer who said he thought it was OK what they did. At one point when I called Band C after a Noreaster had come and water was in the garage again, they completely ignored me and did not respond after several calls. I really would not use them again. Other people may have had a good experience. Mine was not the best.

Charles from Bradford-Cameron did the estimate. He was very professional, thorough, and seemed to have quite a bit of experience. My overall price was $6700 which split out to approximately $5,600 for the roof and $1100 for the gutters. I received cheaper estimates from other companies but chose Bradford-Cameron because of the quality and It was important to me that he did not use migrant labor. His workers are locals that have been doing this for a while. We set up a date to start. He did not meet that date but it was due to some bad weather. I was not in a hurry anyway. They did the roof first and worked two half days and then the better portion of a third day. The old roof was removed, new paper put down, new vents, fans, and flashing installed. I chose a 30-year architectural shingle that looks great. The company came back a few days after that and installed the gutters in one day. Clean up was pretty good but I am finding nails in my mulch and bushes. The only negative thing was very minor. A small glass bird feeder I had out back was broken due to a flying shingle. The worker that broke it brought it to my attention immediately. I appreciated the honesty. All-in-all they treated my house and yard with care. I was happy with Charles and the work his crew did. I would use them again in the future.

Our flat roof leaked after a snow and ice storm. We called Bradford-Cameron because they had laid that roof ten years ago. We had to wait a couple of days due to the high volume of calls in the area after that stoem, but the repairman appeared when he said he would and quickly identified the problem. He showed us the origins of the leak and explained what would be needed to avoid further damage. He patched the holes that afternoon, promising to return for more extensive repairs when the snow and ice were gone and the weather was warmer. Since then we have experienced no more leaks. We have recommended this company to others in the past and will continue to do so. Their rates are competitive and they perform good work. What's more, they stand by their workmanship. We had a problem several years ago on another part of our roof. The first repair did not hold up as expected and when notified, they sent someone out the same day to re-do the repair at no cost.

Everything has gone smoothly so far and it is costing about $14000. We are having them put on a new roof, shingles and vents. They are also doing the exterior wood and the aluminum raft. They were professional and responsive in coming out and doing the estimate for us. Charles was the person that came and gave us the estimate. He was very helpful in terms of ideas and was very professional.

The work they did was excellent. The workmanship and their communication with me was a great strong point. They asked a lot of questions about my preferences, and were able to finish the job and do it well. I remember thinking the price was on the high side, but it was good quality work. I will use this company in the future, should I need work on my roof again.

First we selected Bradford Cameron as a possible contractor based on his satisfaction rating on Angie's List. Charles Speltz and his entire team were true professionals from the beginning. Charles arrived on time for our initial appointment to get a scope of the work in preparing an estimate. While his estimate was not the least expensive it was competitive. A major factor is selecting Bradford Cameron was that Charles took the time to explain every facet of the work in detail to our satisfaction. He made us feel very comfortable. The first team arrived with all the windows. They were very careful in handling the windows and in inspecting each one. Fortunately this was a good practice as they found manufacturing defects in two of the windows slide assemblies which they were able to correct prior to being installed. The were very respectful of our home taking care not to track dirt and trash all through the house. They were careful not to damage existing window trim, furniture or carpeting. They were very conscious of weather conditions so as not to have the interior of the house exposed to inclement weather. The windows and doors were installed, leveled, weather proofed and sealed. All were tested for functionality following installation. Charles returned every phone call in a timely manner and stopped by nearly every day to check progress, answer questions and be sure we were satisfied with the progress. The window team did a great job. The siding team were equally professional. They carefully insulated the house and sealed all the joints prior to the vinyl install. They also wrapped all exposed wood in aluminum so now the entire house in maintenance free. They did an outstanding job. We have received many complements on the new look of the house and the quality of the work.

Got a good estimate. Felt no pressure. Had a good discussion over possible extra ventilation - they advised not necessary. Chose 3 sample colors and they nailed a couple of shingles of each color on the roof. I later took one of each down to examine. It's good to see one on the roof and one in your hand - the look changes depending on the time of day. They showed up on time each day. The job took 3 days. They did the roof in sections, so work stoppage each day was timely. They ran out of shingles near the end, but that had no effect on anything. I recently had all new gutters installed and they were not damaged during the roof job. It's been 4 months and I've had no problems with the roof.

Very satisfied with the entire experience. Charles (owner) responded to our initial call promptly. He came out and provided an estimate without any pressure to sign a contract, and always made certain that customer service was his number one priority. Once deciding to go with Bradford-Cameron, Charles made sure that all of our questions were answered and he reassured us that all aspects of the job would go as we wanted. He always made himself available down to the finest detail throughout the process. Even if an item didn't go as initially planned, he made himself available to ensure that it was corrected promptly and to our satisfaction. What could potentially be a highly stressful evolution for any consumer, this company made the process go smoothly. Highly recommended for any exterior work that needs to be done to your home.

From the initial planning appointment to the final finishing touches, my experience with this company was totally satisfactory. Co-owner seemed to bend over backward to explain my options, helped with color and design choices, added some things not in the contract without charge. The crews that worked on my house were friendly and courteous, showed up on time, called ahead if delayed, cleaned up and left everything neat at the end of the day. Co-owner came every day to check on work and consult with me when necessary. He was always prompt in returning any call I made to him. All of this work continued on schedule even though the crew experienced a death in the family of the lead man and the back surgery of co-owner. We had used this company in the past to replace the roof the last time it was done and had the same satisfactory experience at that time. I would definitely hire and recommend this company again.

They were wonderful. Most other companies refused to only do and match one side and tried to convince me to redo our entire house. They were able to find the siding to match our 12 year old siding. The match is perfect. They were trustworthy and honest. They didn't ask for any money up front as they wanted to make sure I was happy with the siding first.

Bradford-Cameron did an excellent job on my roof and siding. In fact they did so good that it encouraged several of my neighbors to use them as well. Everything was done to specific measurements and the roof and siding looked great. They left no mess and cleaned up well after themselves. They also hauled away all of the debris.
