Mr. Becker told me his "A team was on this job". During the installation of the crusher run bedding I asked if the pitch for the water run off was sufficient. They assured me that it was pitched enough for rain. After the job was finished, I noticed standing water after it rains in numerous areas.  They attempted to correct with no success. During installation of the four part (i.e. four different sizes) gray block, I was informed by the onsite forman that they had never installed a random pattern before. As they were installing this pattern I had to repeatedly ask the workers to break up several straight lines more than two feet in length. By the time they were finished I could plainly see that it was not a true 'random pattern' as displayed in several paver manufacturer brochures but more so a hap-hazard pattern (i.e. ?figure it out as you go? as the workers would say to each other).  In some instances many of the same block sizes were place against each other.

No show--no call on a scheduled day to work.  Becker Enterprises did not call me until 4PM that afternoon stating that they were expecting a rain and therefore would not be on the job site. No courtesy call was ever received beforehand yet I took an entire day off from work waiting for them to arrive in the morning.  There was no rain.

The three drain tiles laid to the fence line was improperly placed resulting in flooding that portion of the yard during the first rain.  Becker?s workers returned, separated them out and extended them a distance sufficient to avoid yard flooding.

Upon completion of the entire project, Mr. Becker stated that I owed an additional $1,351 above $400 contract balance for the additional blocks, flower garden stones and movement of the drain lines.  I was shocked and surprised that this additional cost was never mentioned by Mr. Becker either before, during or the last time both he and I reviewed the final patio together.  I took more umbrage with Mr. Becker that he never even warned me of a possible price increase.  When I protested the movement of the drain tile as part of the additional cost whereas it was his design for original placement which caused the flooding, he then quickly changed his rationale to the increase in cost of larger flower garden stone edging.  He then added a new comment to his argument that more block cutting was involved.

Per the written contract page one; ?Any alterations or deviation from specifications involving extra cost or labor and material will ONLY be executed with an agreed upon written proposal for same, and will be an extra charge over the sum upon in this contract.  All agreements must be in writing.?  No previous conversations nor any written proposals was provided concerning any increase to contract cost either before or during project work nor were there any verbal change orders discussed specific to any increases in cost.  I was disgusted by Mr. Becker?s attitude and rude demeanor.  I paid the total additional cost under protest.

Mr. Becker entered my backyard fenced property unbeknownst to me and took pictures of my newly installed patio without my permission and posted it on his website.

In the summary, Mr. Becker received his full fee ($9,251) including the $1,351 increase that he charged me without warning, discussion nor written agreement.  After all that, he failed to return for a simple repair (?I stand by my work? as he told me several times past) then refused to refund me for its cost of $45.  To cap it all off, he posted pictures of my home for his business advertising without my permission.  He got his money yet treated me with an unprofessional demeanor, arrogance and contempt for customer satisfaction.

I filed a complaint with the state licensing agency - Department of Professional Occupation and Regulation (DPOR).  DPOR investigated and determined Becker Enterprises committed four code violations.  He was reprimanded and issues a monetary fine.
