Terrible... Driveway started spalling at 12 months. Dennis did try to stop the problem by sealing it. At two years, driveway is over 60% spalled. It looks terrible. He blamed road salt but I've read that it's the finish and PSI. My neighbors don't have spalled driveways.

He forgot to show up for the appointment to get a quote. We scheduled a second appointment. The day of the appointment, he said that I he needed me to show up a couple hours early, so I left work to meet him. During the appointment, he was unfriendly. Then, he never provided a quote.

Very happy with my entire experience. Dennis was responsive, professional and prompt. His pricing was very competitive coming in several hundred dollars less than three other competitors. His crew was on time, professional and prompt.

Initially, we were very satisfied, and recommended him to several neighbors. However, we began to have some issues, and have been completely unable to get him to respond to either our e-mails or phone messages (multiple attempts made over a several month period). He was recommended to us has highly reliable and performing excellent work...we don't know what has happened.

Here's what happened, see photos of the job. I asked for a written contract vs. email "estimate". Reply. email is the contract. I "Trusted" as this is father of a friend and former employee and based on other AL reviews. Porch shows large gravel printing through the surface. Just cosmetic buy cream too thin. Garage Floor ok. Driveway was a disaster and done wrong from day one. While they were washing it I walked by and Stopped Dennis and said I thought his guy was washing away too much cream with the pressure washer, he shrugged me off and told me not to worry. As I feared, they washed away too much concrete, many voids (missing stones) Many Low areas of almost raw mortar and high areas river stone piled up, trip hazard left at side walk and did not fill in missing dirt on sides after job . Addressed this in person at final payment and expressed these concerns that voids and missing gravel will cause cracking. Dennis solution was and I quote "I'll seal it and This driveway is sound and if it cracks I will re-pour it, don't worry." I made huge mistake of paying balance 03-21-2017. Got a hand written receipt. Took Dennis at his word which I thought meant something. My next door neighbor was present and I even introduced and referred him to Dennis to quote his driveway. After an unhappy wife and opinions of family and MANY neighbors and guests asking what happened in "New" drive, more stones falling out buy simply dragging a foot across we tried to get an appointment for 2 WEEKS for him to come and see the issues. No Luck, Approx. 60 days later I contacted Dennis direct and SENT PHOTO of crack going across a section. Only to be told he was not doing anything, and would not re-pour regardless of his verbal statement/agreement/contract at final payment on 03.26.2017. We discussed court as a remedy and I was told to SUE by Dennis. Would gladly share more photos, texts and emails to prove facts. sorry to say we had referred our own clients and promoted Ames on our Facebook pages and other social media...should not have paid in full.

I left my first message on 3/27...have left two others since...no return call, so I moved on. I guess he's too busy to return calls.

Services were originally performed 25 February 2016. Initially I was very satisfied with the entire process, from quote, to removal, to installing the new driveway. I noticed January 2017 that the driver had begun spalling or chipping away on the surface in certain spots. I contacted Mr. Ames late February 2017 and explained the situation. He wasn't thrilled to hear about the situation and denied responsibility based on quality of his teams construction. He stated that it was caused by salt falling of the cars from the snow we had. Then indicated that he would drive by and look at it. It has now been a month later and there has been no response from him or the company. All research I've done indicate that this condition is most commonly caused by the quality of the finish. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for this type of work.

I like them. They showed up on time. They did quality work and clean up. Every aspect of the job was completed exceeding my expectation. I would use them again.

Dennis from Ames Concrete Construction is a man of experience and has been doing this for many many years. He directed every aspect of the project from start to finish. He was always the first one on site and would stay with his crew to oversee the entire production from start to finish. We got several estimates from other contractors for the extensive work we needed and Ames Concrete Construction was by far the most professional and experienced with the best price. Communication and coordination through out the whole thing was outstanding.

Dennis and his team were fantastic throughout the entire process.  My wife and I originally were looking to install pavers and one of our friends suggested we look at stamped concrete to save money.  Given the size of the back patio we wanted, we decided to give it a try.  I found Dennis Ames through Angie's List and gave him a call.  Unlike MANY other contractors I have worked with recently, he actually answered his phone.  Good communication was ongoing throughout the project - he returns voicemails promptly, called or sent texts with updates or to let us know when he would be here, and emailed us with quotes exactly when he promised.
Dennis agreed to come by himself on a Saturday (outside his normal business hours) to accommodate our work schedules.  We had little to give him outside of a rough idea of the shape we wanted.  He walked us through our options, gave suggestions, walked and marked out the shape of our back patio with us, and made sure to account for all the details (ex. removing a section of fence to reduce labor costs).  He was very friendly throughout the process and understood that we had a strict budget - when he learned that I was a veteran of the Marine Corps, he even knocked off about $1000 off our price.
Work started promptly and ended in under a week even with a one day lost to rain.  Dennis even coordinated with our fence company for the removal and re-installation of our fence section.  Dennis himself was here to oversee every stage of the project and even did the final sealing himself on the last day.
I couldn't be happier with Dennis and Ames Concrete Construction.  He really made this process as painless as possible and the result is a beautiful, large back patio that will last for years at about half the price of pavers...but it still looks like stone.  HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone looking at getting concrete work done or as an option to pavers/brick work.  Thank you!

Dennis was responsive and cooperative. The work was done on time, on budget and the job site was kept clean. This was a simple job and I never requested a formal contract. If the job had been larger I would have requested one and I am sure Dennis would provide it.

My driveway was cracked and the top of the driveway was breaking to pieces.  The driveway was removed.  Sod and soil were removed to widen the driveway.  The Ames' crew worked hard and were polite.  They did excellent work.  The crew cleaned up at the end of each day and after the job was completed.  I would highly recommend Ames Concrete Construction.

Called two times over two days. Wanted to get an estimate for a nice concrete job. Dennis Ames never called back. I would have been fine if he called back and said he was to busy and was not taking on new work.
Never understand why a small business would not think about a new customer and future work. Just because they are swamped right now.
I gave a D (not F) just because other reviews were positive.

I called Ames Concrete and I spoke directly with Dennis, the owner.  He was an absolute professional, and we set up an appointment for him to stop by and give us an estimate on our first call.  He arrived as advertised, and my wife and I gave him an idea as to what we were looking for in terms of the patio.  He immediately painted the design we envisioned on the grass, and then he gave us the various options available for the patio.  We discussed details of timelines, the fact that a bobcat couldn't fit through our fence (meaning that his crew would have to wheel barrow all of the concrete and sand from the from yard), he took measurements, and we decided on a stamp design, color, and finish.  
He delivered the estimate via email the next day - and it was exactly what we were expecting, and right on our budget.  We were looking for a 16'x32' patio, and Dennis delivered an estimate at under $11 per square foot.  We liked Dennis and his product so much that we actually requested a modification to the estimate, as we wanted to make the patio even larger than originally planned. We hired Dennis and Ames concrete that day, without ever meeting any other contractors.  
Dennis actually performed all of the work while my family and I were out of town on spring break with the kids, so we arrived back home to a finished and gorgeous product.  
Dennis was amazing to work with, responded to every one of my texts and phone calls, and kept me constantly in the loop as to the process as we were out of town.  I highly recommend Ames concrete - the work is beautiful and at what I deemed an extremely fair price.

I received a quote to remove and replace 100 SF of concrete driveway.  I decided to use another company who's bid was half of Ames Concrete's.

It was good.

Mr. Ames was very hands on, working along side his crew much of the time. He has an eye for detail, and he and his crew are great designers. Their suggestions added so much to the final appearance. It was a first class job. Everyone was very polite, professional, and punctual. We couldn't be more pleased!

Completed in one day, 1 area outside garage door and extended patio. Kept the area clean. Have received many compliments.

The man who came out was timely and extremely helpful. He addressed all of my questions, and explained everything thoroughly. I received the estimate and my options from him.  I did not hire him because I chose altogether to not change my patio this season, but if I ever choose to, I will definitely be reaching back out to this company!
