Phil Carter, president of the company, contacted us within a day of leaving a message on his answering machine explaining the issues. His foreman, David, was out to my house within a week, to assess the situation. Prior to AIG, we had dealt with another company in the fall/winter of 2018 because of the same issue but clearly it went only partly resolved. This company came back and evaluated the situation again at which time we were told we now had structural damage to our foundation that would require pilings. We are so very fortunate to have gotten another opinion. David immediately told us that we absolutely did not have structural damage to our foundation but definitely had moisture issues that could be rectified by extending the underground downspout to include the back right corner and to add a moisture barrier to the crawlspace underneath the affected part of our house. Prior to the work being done, the humidity levels in the affected part of our home stayed in the high 90's. We agreed to have the work done and within 24hours, the hygrometer reading dropped to 40% and has remained in the 40's consistently since that time. Both David and Phil have called a few times since the work was done to check on the humidity readings. Our floors are almost flat again, but unfortunately, the sub flooring is permanently damaged from moisture and will have to be replaced. David will come back next spring to evaluate the crawl space making sure the moisture issue has resolved before the next phase begins.

From start to finish to job went extremely well. AEC was the only company out of the 4 estimates we received that understood our drainage issues and explained these issues to us in plain language. Phil and his team installed the proper equipment required to eliminate our drainage problems while respecting our property and cleaning up after themselves each day. They are a real professional team who know what they are doing. By far these guys understand home drainage problems. Our home is now dry both in the yard and in the crawl space. We highly recommend them to anyone with water problems on their property.

They did excellent work and I'm very happy with them. Super helpful and they were the only company that actually told me why I was having a problem from a technical point of view so they were more knowledgeable than the other companies we talked to about doing the work with us.

AEC provided excellent customer service from beginning to end. We were happy with their work and the pricing was more than fair. We have used them on two of our primary homes and the service has been spot on. I recommend you give AEC a chance if you are have any type of foundation or drainage project. Thanks AEC for 14 years of service.

Advanced Engineering designed and installed an impressive pump station for my basement. Although there has been a pump in the basement since the house was built in 1960, It never captured enough water. Sometimes I might accumulate as much as a foot or so of water in the basement if there was a rally hard rain. After a couple of days the pump would get the water level down to 2 or 3 inches and I would have to sweep the water to the pump station. and use a wet dry vac. I reached out to several other companies and discussed their approach for addressing the problems before hiring Advanced Engineering. I discovered that most companies seemed to be using a very similar design to one another, which must have been a popular prefabricated approach that they probably use on every house. When I spoke with Phil Carter from Advanced Engineering he explained how they could do a custom pump station design for my home which would be more effective and less expensive than what others were proposing. He also addressed other drainage issues outside the home which have helped keep the water away from my foundation and reduced the risk of future foundation problems. Phil seemed to be more knowledgeable about drainage issues than anyone else I spoke with. (maybe because he is an engineer). They installed my drainage system over 9 months ago and the basement has been bone dry since! I thought this was pretty amazing since they only installed one pump station and it has been the most rain this year that I can remember. One day we had 5 inches of rain and the pump still kept up. I was also very pleased with the crew. Dave was very nice and extremely knowledgable as well. It was very hard work and they did it in a timely manner. Advanced Engineering also took care of the mold remediation and corrected a couple of structural issues as well. I think I was most impressed and happy about the drainage solutions though, because now my basement stays clean and dry. And I don't have to sweep water anymore. Thank You Advanced Engineering !

They were quick to respond to our request for an estimate. Dave came out to inspect and was direct and to the point about what the issues were, which we very much appreciated. Dave and Mr. Carter put together a couple of different proposals and once we picked a plan, they were very quick to start the job. Dave has been the lead on the project and walked us through each step, ensuring we knew what was going on. Dave and Mr. Carter were easy to contact and a pleasure to work with! This company has a can-do attitude and is very flexible with your schedule!! I would definitely hire them again!!!

AES inspected the structural parts of the house and repaired floor beams, piers, beams, etc, then put down waterproofing, including bringing the waterproofing up the sides of the crawlspace and piers, sealing the crawlspace from moisture issues. In addition, they removed the brick facing of the exterior walls and replaced it with siding, reducing the weight of the house on the foundation. AES are consummate professionals. Easy to work with, they take complex issues and explain them in easy to understand terms. Great work ethic. Did great work. Cleaned up everything very well. Good communication. Followed up 2 months later to attach the shutters. Kept on a schedule. Really can't say enough about Phil and Dave and the rest. HIRE THESE FOLKS!!! They are the best you can find. No kidding.

Awesome company! Phil Carter is a consummate professional. Dave the foreman went over and above getting the job done right and quickly. They special ordered our siding. They took a wavy hardwood floor with inches of variations throughout the house and made it nearly new. They demo’d thebrick walls and brought in a subcontractor to install siding, supervising them closely. ALL work done well. Looks awesome. Super happy with the work and the positive attitude of Phil and Dave.

The project went very well. Phil came out to look at the job and it just happened to pour rain that day so he could see exactly what was going on. He came up with a plan, estimate, and schedule. His crew, headed by Dave, always came on time, worked HARD, efficiently, and answered my many questions. The crew was easy going and always polite. A few bumps along the way and my change of a plan were dealt with easily and with flexibility. When the job was finished Phil checked to be sure I was completely happy with it. Ironically, it was probably a month or longer after the job was done that we had our first big rain so I could see how well it worked. The system works great! All that water that was rushing like a river past my side door and foundation is now moving through pipes underground then out to the street and down to the city drain. Work was done in late April - early May and was finished in the time promised and the price estimated ($10,700) and was well worth it. I would recommend AEC to anyone and have already recommended them to neighbors.

It all went very well, They put in a 4" pvc French drain system with a sump pump along the back of my home. they also installed 3 bubble pots on the gutters for excess runoff. His crew was on time, courteous and explained everything thru the job. These men dug all of this out by hand, no heavy equipment.

AEC was the only company that even agreed to look into the problem of the sinkhole that had appeared in the front yard of my rental property, which seemed to be at least 20 feet deep.  Frank took a great deal of time determining what might have been some contributing factors to the sudden appearance of this hole.  AEC sent out a team to secure the hole, remove heavy remnants from a concrete slab which had been jackhammered to investigate the hole, and filled it with sand.  Fortunately, that seems to have been the solution; we have waited a month and no further erosion of the hole has taken place in spite of heavy rains.  (Complications from city drainage or water pipes had pretty well been ruled out.)

Throughout the process, AEC took pains to keep both me and my property manager informed as to what was happening.  Now that the hole seems to have stabilized, they voluntarily went back and covered the sand with a layer of soil.  A big thanks to Frank for so patiently walking me through this process and keeping me informed.  I had visions of my house sliding into a ditch and AEC was the only firm that seemed to care whether or not it did.  Thanks to everyone involved.  I cannot recommend this firm highly enough; I was dealing with a problem that I was totally unfamiliar with and they did a great job of helping me out.

We called AEC to check on our home's structure before adding new flooring to the first floor. It was obvious that we had a sizable hump in the kitchen and needed a pro to take a look. Dave McNally and crew gave us the bad news that our home was built with insufficient beam size on the load-bearing midsection of our home and some of the beams were showing signs of twist-cracking from the stress. They also found standing water in one corner of the crawlspace that needed to be fixed. We accepted their bid and a couple weeks later Dave and one helper showed up on time and began the work of replacing the cracked beams and replacing them. Some of our brickwork needed to be removed to allow them easier access to the crawlspace and they hired a very capable subcontractor to take care of removing and replacing the brickwork. In the end, it was like it never even happened! After the beams were replaced, they jacked the house to remove the hump (a 5/8 inch, very noticeable, hump) and finished up before their originally-estimated date. On leaving, Dave advised us not to do any re-plastering (because it happens when a house is jacked and re-levelled) until the first big freeze of the year to make sure all the settling is finished. Once the winter came, we had some issues with doors sticking and another hump appearing downstairs. I called Dave and scheduled a visit. He worked us into his busy schedule and made quick work of fixing the problems without needing to shave any doors. Some re-shimming of the beams was all it needed.
The water problem under the house? They fixed it with the two drains they installed.
We're happy with the work they did and the way the fixed our problems.

As I mentioned the job took approximately 30 days to complete.  I had to feel sorry for the guys working in the crawl space.  The floor is very low and you can only get around by dragging yourself around on your belly.  They never complained, they said we have had much worse.  Every couple of days David, who ran the job on site, would stop in and give me process reports  and take time to investigate and answer every little question I had.  He kept me in the loop if they had any problems or possible delays. When they finished they removed all the trash from under the house and cleaned up good outside.  I only had to point out one thing that needed touchup.  They were very polite and very professional.  There was never any inconvenience or reason to doubt their ability or desire to do a good job.  The price on the contract was the final delivered price with no surprises or add-ons needed.  All together I was very happy with their work.  When they left the floor seemed to be as solid and as level as should be expected. They went above and beyond without increasing the price or schedule.  I would have no problem hiring them again or recommending them to anyone else.

Everyone was very professional and they were here when they said they would be and had the work completed when they said it would be done. They were actually able to start a week earlier than scheduled, so that was icing on the cake. They explained everything that needed to be done and what they would do, what to expect so that I wasn't surprised when plaster cracked or door frames went wonky.

Everyone was very responsive to our communications and answered all of our questions promptly and with great detail, describing exectly what they were going to accomplish.  The scheduling process went smoothly thanks to the great level of communication.  The team arrived on time and was courteous, provided an estimated time for completion got right to work and did a great job.  Looking back on the other estimates we recieved for the job, Advanced Engineering Construction saved us approximately $6-8k and we couldn't be happier.  *This job was for our parents house and we plan on having them resolve some issues at our home in the future.
