I was completely satisfied with the contractor's work, price, suggestions, time frames, and communications.  All aspects of the job were excellent.

Prior to the installation of the tile the crew at SDE Design gave the area an acid wash to remove the previously applied sealers that still clung to the surface. Since some of the sealant still remained after the initial acid wash, they followed that up by sanding and lightly grinding those areas that appeared to retain some of the previous sealant. This was done so that the material that holds the tiles in place would properly adhere to the cement floor. After the floor was adequately prepped, they mapped out the tiles as they would appear on the floor according to the pattern we selected. The pattern was a complicated one that involved using a variety of tile sizes in different orientations. The crew determined beforehand just where to start and end the pattern to preserve the overall look we were striving for. By doing so, they avoided having irregular tile pieces in crucial areas, such as the exterior entrance way onto the porch or the porch entrance into the house. The tile was laid very carefully with each grout line kept perfectly straight and each tile kept perfectly level with the surrounding tiles. Given the intricacy of the pattern, this was a considerable feat. The crew worked with us in selecting color variations in the tile as they continued to lay down the pattern. After the tile set for the appropriate period of time, the crew came back and grouted the newly tiled area. They were very careful to fill all the grout lines evenly and remove any grout that smeared onto the tiles. After the grout dried, they wiped down the floor and buffed the tile surfaces. Following this, the grout was sealed. Our tile floor looks fantastic. We are extremely pleased. We would highly recommend SDE Design for virtually any type of home improvement project.

In overseeing their work they demonstrate a high degree of quality control. The owner is extremely knowledgeable in a wide range of areas. Quite impressive. The team is extremely reliable, they show up on time, they meet or exceed established expectations. The crew is considerate and personable, the kind of people we all love having as friends.
