"We appreciate the feedback as it helps us perfect our services to our valued clientele. While this review is an opinion, it is quite different than the other reviews our company has received on Angie's List, Google, etc. over the 15+ years we have been in business. Our company found it very difficult to communicate with this client. Would not respond to email and asked us to use snail mail. We mailed through the U.S. Post office much of our communication. Did not return phone calls in a timely fashion or at all. We would have scheduled meetings with client and when we arrived, client would not answer door and leave our personnel standing on doorstep. As it pertains to the price, this was a contract client. The client knew the scope of services and the price up front and had all of that in a written document. No surprises as we have found surprises to not be beneficial to either party. It is our hope that this former client finds the correct landscape contractor to meet and exceed her expectations as our efforts to do so, clearly fell short in her opinion."

"This review is not accurate. An estimate was provided but we failed to include two items on the estimate. When the gentleman who requested the estimate let us know that we had left two items off of the estimate, I responded to him within a matter of hours and told him I could meet with him that day or as soon as his schedule would allow. Instead of allowing us to provide the estimate with the two additional items, this gentleman replied in his email that he was going to "ruin" us on Angie's List and that he had already hired someone to do the work. In addition, he threatened our company with additional negative exposure on a variety of other social media sites. While I completely understand his disappointment with not receiving the complete estimate, being threatened with a negative Angie's List rating made me realize that this is probably a client that our company is ultimately grateful that we did not start a relationship or do any work with. Our company has been in business for 10+ years and the vast majority of our reviews on Angie's List have been very positive. Overall, our association with Angie's List has been quite positive but also we have come to understand and appreciate that there are a WIDE variety of individuals who are members of Angie's List and some pose a very significant challenge in terms of meeting or exceeding their customer service expectations and that they have a quick forum with which to do so. For sure, there have been days where our service has not been executed to the level to which we aspire but Angie's List makes us work harder each day to hopefully ensure that each and every customer is satisfied."

Here is the email chain that shows our conversations with the client: 8/24/2015 First Email From Client I am interested in having my lawn aerated. My lot is approx. .5 acres but only 8 to 10k is actual lawn. I live in the Pantops area. Can you give me an idea is you can perform this task and an approx. cost? Thanks Client Dos Amigos Landscaping & Grounds Management 8/25/2015 Thank you for reaching out to Dos Amigos with your estimate request. Based on the square footage you provided I can give you an estimate price for performing aeration only of $175-195 (based on the 8000-10000sqft). We would still need to take a look at the property to confirm a price. I can tell you that for our full Fall Aeration Service (that includes aeration, overseeding, fertilizer, and lime applications) for 8-10 thousand square feet the charge would be between $342-$375. We can give you a more formal estimate that will list materials in an itemized fashion if you like. We would just need the following information: property address, telephone #, and an email address to send documentation to. Martin Business Manager Summary We gave the customer an estimate within 24 hours of receiving the original email from Angie's List. He asked for the estimate to be broken down into lime, fertilizer, overseeding and aeration. We provided a detailed estimate within three (3) days of receiving the request for a formal estimate. It should be noted that sending emails through Angie's List slows the process. Many times, an Angie's List email will take up to 24 hours to go between the two parties. The estimate could have even been delivered sooner if Dos Amigos had the address of the client but we were delayed while we waited on the Angie's List email with the customer's address. In addition, it should be noted that : (1) The customer never asked us to come to his property (2) In many cases, we are providing an estimate based on square footage and to calculate the square footage of a property DOES NOT require an onsite visit as there are numerous computer programs such as Draft Logic and Google that will accurately calculate the area. (3) The customer provided a review for us on Angie's List based on an estimate but our company has done NO WORK for the customer but still got a review??????? (4) The formal estimate that was provided the customer was within 10% of the estimate provided in the email chain above While Angie's List has many good features, having your company receive a review when there has been NO WORK completed is not an entirely fair process."
