Located in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia, the Brown Automotive Group is a locally owned and operated auto sales and service facility. We are nestled in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains and about 6 miles down the road from The University of Virginia. With five state of the art facilities and an additional state of the art body shop, we are Charlottesville’s premier auto authority. Our company began in 1981, when Kenny Brown purchased the original location on 29North. Today, we represent nine new car franchises including Honda, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Subaru, Saab and Scion. Though we continue to grow, it is important for all of our customers and associates to know that we are still committed to the same goals that we were so many years ago: to provide fair, honest and reliable services to all customers. I take the car in once a year to get it checked out. I've got a 14-year-old car.What they did last year, all they did was the inspection, but I had then checked the car out. He said nothing needed fixing, the brakes were good and everything else. I'll give them all A's that's why I keep going back year after year.

I have a newer car and I take it to the dealership. There was no charge, it was free. It took about 45 minutes for them to complete the inspection. I worked with two workers. They are very professional, very clean; they have an attractive place for you to wait for your car.

After waiting an entire day for the recall work to be done, we were informed that it looked like the wiring to the knock sensor had been chewed.  At this point they had only put the car on the diagnostic which had already been done at the local station
They chARGED US 98.00 to tell us the knock sensor would not be covered and it would be at least 450 dollars to replace it
We had nothing but a run around for the entire time, Toyota did nothing to help us resolve this matter and in fact put us in the position of spending another 98 dollars we do not have.  We would never had agreed if the owners manual had not specifically stated that emission systems are covered under Fedeeral 8 year  80,000 mile warrenty.
There is no way they could assume that an animal had chewed the wire when the local service station had looked and said the exact opposite opinion.  They succeeded in keeping our car overnight, an strongarming us into paying 98 for nothing

With manager Shannon Herring ,we were able to come to an agreement on price and trade in value of my old car. I am looking forward to enjoying my new Camry!

We took the car in three different times to install a trailer hitch and apply a protective coating. Each time the service was to take only 1 day. The first time there was a problem with the hitch installation. After 2 days the hitch was installed but no protective coating. The following week, the car went in again. This time they ran out of protective coating. They got some from another facility. That batch was a and quot;badand quot; batch and our car seats looked as if an ink pen had exploded on them. New seat covers had to be ordered which took about a month. The third time the car went in, the job of replacing the seat covers was to take 2 days. On Friday afternoon we were told sorry, won't be ready till Monday. Monday the seats had been recovered but two trim pieces had been broken in the process and the protective coating had still not been applied. We will not be using Browns service department ever again.

They were very efficient. They told me that a setting I want changed will need to be mentioned before my next appointment so they can send it to correct team. Forgot to spot clean one tiny area I had asked them to do as a favor but figure it was because I was in the speedy line.

Car is great but I wish the salesman had pointed out to be mindful that the drive and 3rd gear (this is an automatic) are on the same column and that if you shift left, you are in third gear. Someone drove my car in 3rd gear by accident for several hundred miles and burned more gas as a result. I asked and it did not hurt the car. It also took a long time to get the credit for dropping an optional maintenance plan: dropped it end of July and it took until September 11 for the dealer to send the paperwork in. Did not change my monthly payment but does affect the amount I owe which was $1000 less without it. However when I contacted the customer relations person about my concern, it was promptly addressed and she was correct. Bottom line was I did get the refund on to my account. Just took longer than I expected so maybe dealer should warn if it will take over six weeks to get corrected.

The sales and service departments at Brown Toyota have been very responsive and helpful, since I was first shopping for a new small pickup in 2011. The service department is very well managed, and they get you in and out in a hurry. It is a professional operation. The customer waiting area is very good.

I always provide oil and filter to Brown and they install for under $20. Great deal.
This time there was also rattle under my vehicle.
They diagnosed it as a protective cover loose on the catalytic converter and quoted me $79 to burn it off.
I decided to see if I could get the cover off myself.

Brown's provides a very efficient shuttle service associated with service appointments. I drove to Brown's at 7:30 am with no appointment, dropped off my vehicle, and had a shuttle to my job site within 30 minutes. The driver gave me a card with phone number to call when pick up was ready. I called the driver at about 2pm and gave him a 3pm pickup time. He was waiting and got back to Brown's in 15 minutes.
The service was part of Toyota's free maintenance on new vehicles and I got preventive maintenance, oil change, tire rotation, and state inspection all free. The only and slight disappointment was that I was expecting a light wipe down and vacuuming inside and may even a wash on the outside. None of that happened and I probably had unrealistic expectations. The staff were courteous and there was no evidence of their presence in the car which is a good thing. Overall a good experience with the shuttle service an unqualified and quot;Aand quot; rating.
