Wonderful! I'd met 3 HVAC contractors for bids before contacting Randy and his crew and wow, the difference between their approach and the others wasn't even close. And it wasn't even about price (for which they were the most competitive). Super thorough, patient and willing to educate you about the whole process is what sold me.

After we installed ducts, set the unit and blower, and ran the refrigerant line, we needed an HVAC pro to add an elbow to the refrigerant line and get the system running. Unfortunately, the technicians from Blue Ridge Services seemed unsure of what they were doing. Part of the problem may have been that we had done much of the work already; they said they don't normally do partial installations, only full systems. The technicians argued with each other - one guy left in anger - and weren't willing to call for help or ask us for things that they needed (such as the instruction manuals or a dryer filter, both of which we had).
Two months later, after we were unhappy with the amount of heat the system was providing - and the high electric bills due to the constant use of aux heat - we asked if they had a warranty on their work. They said it was only warranted for 30 days, which is pretty useless if you have the thing installed more than a month before cold winter weather hits. So we had another HVAC contractor come look at it instead. They identified several problems with the initial installation. 
First, Blue Ridge Services had set the fan on its highest speed. The other contractor's technician explained that this was the main problem; the air was moving so fast that it couldn't pick up any heat from the coils. Side effects were very loud operation and a feeling of draftiness. Second, Blue Ridge Services apparently didn't charge the refrigerant line properly; it was severely undercharged. Third, some low-voltage wires for the motor control board were missing. Now that the system is on the lowest fan speed and properly charged, its sound is barely noticeable when it runs, and it puts out warm air without using aux heat.
On the plus side, Blue Ridge Services didn't bill us for all the time they were here (5 hours), because they had stated that the job wouldn't take more than 4 hours. The original invoice was for $742, and when we asked about it, they took off $110. They were also responsive and punctual. Still, we ended up paying twice for work that should have been done right the first time.

Very personable, knowledgeable, efficient person (Mike Stockdale). Easy to reach, came promptly, fixed problem, very reasonable price. Definitely would use again.

I am very impressed with the level of responsiveness and professionalism from Randy Carter and his team.  Randy advocated on my behalf to ensure my expectations were met.  He was engaged and troubleshot with his team to come up with possible causes for the noise.  Moreover he inspected the HVAC installation and recommended an additional drain line and work to seal the ductwork to avoid any leakage.

They provided estimates and completed the work in a few weeks time.  Only complaint I have is the lack of professionalism as well as a few holes left on the walls due to the duct work.

It went very well!  They showed up on time, checked out the entire system, topped off the freon and made sure that both the heating and air conditioning were working properly.
