BKH Painting

BKH was prompt on his estimate, gave a fair price and was hired the next day, started job promptly on 4/2 with powerwashing, was unable to finish after firing his partner Sam. Finished powerwashing 4/5 and started painting 4/6. Did not show 4/9 was called 4/10 to determined timeframe of completion. 4/12 I was advised that dormers and porchers were not included in estimate, despite what was written and there would be an additional cost of $1500. When called that evening BKH got angry with my husband, stating that we will pay him. However, payment was never an issue, what we were paying for was. On 4/13, BKH arrived to do work, I questioned the contract again, he immediately become defensive stating that if I wanted him to paint the dormers let him know now and he will stop working altogether. I stated that I expect him to complete the work he was contracted for. He replied that he would take us to court. I clarified that he was breaking his contract by not completing the work. We then sent him a letter stating that he would be paid in full "upon completion of the job" and he had 5 business days to reply. In the mean time BKH filed a court case against us and a falsified dog bite report against our dog.
