You may not be able to place why, but you know the name. Beck Cohen was founded in Charlottesville in 1955, and we’ve been providing heating and cooling services in the area ever since. Our gray barn is an iconic part of the downtown mall and we take pride in being part of Charlottesville’s historic culture. We have a professional, knowledgeable and fully trained staff, so you can trust in the quality of our work. Keeping customers happy largely rests on the shoulders of our veteran technicians, who average 30-years of industry experience. We keep our NATE-certified team sharp with a yearly in-house training program and an apprenticeship program for newcomers. We also let them have the pride of driving our bee-you-tee-full fleet of signature pink salmon trucks. When you see one coming around the corner, be assured relief is on the way. We carry innovative, high-end Lennox® products that will help your HVAC systems run more efficiently and more reliably than the competition. All our employees undergo weekly training regarding the products that we sell and the methods relative to the work that we do. We aim to provide high quality, reliable and affordable HVAC, electrical and plumbing solutions to our customer for both residential and commercial situations. In addition to new installations in the HVAC, electrical and plumbing trades, we offer maintenance plans and reliable service. Maintenance customers are provided with a readily available, 24/7 line which is monitored at all times by an on-call manager and technician.

Heat Pump Repair or Service
The service tech Mike Allen, was on time, very efficient in his maintenance routine. He answered all questions and inquires about the units functionality. He was personable and professional. He ran all the annual checks while we talked and then changed out the carbon pre filter before telling me everything checked out fine.

I am not generally not the person who leaves reviews, but Cohen’s stellar customer service deserves accolades. The installation of the second unit went well without incident. We were pleased with this unit, but had concerns about the first unit. Cohen addressed all our concerns, despite our numerous text and calls. All their staff were courteous and professional. Given our experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.

Beck and Cohen did a great of explaining the various options, including the related taxes incentives for each unit. They proved to be the most knowledgeable and professional of the four companies who provided estimates. Special thanks to Chis Lafontaine and Seth Lail for the superior job and professionalism. I chose Beck Cohen after getting many quotes from multiple HVAC companies. I absolutely made the right decision!! They replaced both units in my house and made sure I understood everything that they were doing and showed me everything I needed to know all the way to the icomfort thermostats. The entire team from customer service and up have been fantastic. Their communication is top notch and their service has been outstanding. I had a duct issue months after the install that wasn’t related to the installation and Rob himself came out to look at the issue and fixed it. This is an outstanding company!

I was first introduced to Beck Cohen through Costco. I worked with Beck Cohen when I installed a packaged HVAC unit to my home. Not realizing they would become a very valuable HVAC and plumbing company several months later during my renovation. Beck Cohen came in and finished work a well-known contractor refused to complete. They also corrected plumbing that was installed incorrectly. They were always courteous and responded in a timely manner. Beck Cohen help me realize there are still honest people in the plumbing business.

Nick is EXCELLENT! I have told family, friends, and co-workers what a great job he did. He was knowledgeable, efficient, mannerly, and cleaned up the area wonderfully when done. I would definitely use Beck-Cohen again. In fact, a separate issue arose a few weeks later. I was not able to have Nick return to do the job, because he was on another job and I couldn't wait. The next plumber did an equally good job. I will definitely use Beck-Cohen for any future plumbing jobs. They charge by the hour ($120) instead of by the job... a little expensive, but well worth the peace of mind!

They are very courteous, very professional, very informative of the product. They explained everything very thoroughly. What they did well was that they were very thorough and explained my options on what I could have bought. There were six workers that came out. This provider does the unit where I work.  I have not had much experience with them at my house.

I believe that the person who actually came out was a subcontractor rather than an actual Beck and Cohen plumber. He was not particularly professional. After figuring out where the burst pipe was, he had to go to the plumbing store to get the parts, because he did not have a truck with the needed parts (I was billed for the hour it took him to go go buy supplies -- and I'm guessing get lunch, as he was sipping on a large soda when he came back). He adequately repaired the burst pipe and installed the new faucet, though he used a spray insulator to seal up the work that looks awful and that I worry will make any future repairs difficult.
He also tried to charge me an additional $80 dollars (by adding up the parts and service incorrectly).
I will not be using Beck Cohen again.

Rob and Jason were punctual, professional, and friendly. They left at one point to go back to the shop to get some leveling pads for a and quot;cleaner installand quot; since our floors aren't perfectly straight, and indeed, they did a great job getting it flush with the counters and perfectly level.

I was so impressed with this company! I started with seeking bids on this massive job from several local companies. Beck Cohen stood out even before the bid because of their promptness, friendliness and description of job logistics. Their price was in the middle of the bids but after hearing from friends how pleased they were with this company I went with them. Replacing pipes can be a very messy business. They came when they promised and not only did they cut a little as possible into the drywall, they labelled the pieces they cut by room so my dry waller could re-use the pieces. They even staged the work so that I had water at the end of each day and cleaned up daily. At the completion of the job they did a walk through, told me where the shut-off valves were and even came back and installed an access panel downstairs my dry waller accidentally covered the shut off valve. They are professional, and I would recommend them to anyone.
