I made a Saturday appointment mainly to address an airbag recall on my 2004 Ranger, which I mentioned specifically when scheduling my appointment. Since I planned to leave it with them - they estimated a half-day to fix the airbag recall - I decided to also have them perform an oil change and Virginia state safety inspection.
When they called me to pick up my truck, they told me that not only did my low-mileage truck (32K) fail the safety inspection, but they didn't even repair the airbag because the parts still had to be ordered and wouldn't be in for days. When I asked why they even allowed me to schedule the appointment when they didn't have the recall parts available, Nicole simply said "Oh well, the person who makes appointments doesn't know anything about service or whether parts are available.".
To recap, I made the appointment to address a recall which they never bothered to address. Instead, they Failed my vehicle and cited $335.00 to repair "loose front wheel bearings", and offered new tire packages ranging from $550 to $730. In total, they were seeking ~$1000 from me when all I wanted them to do was fix Ford's airbag problem.
I sought a second opinion from an independent garage who has always maintained our older vehicles (see my review of Integrity Automotive in Orange, VA). They reinspected and found absolutely nothing wrong with the front bearings or suspension. Everything was well within safety specs and so they issued me a Passed safety inspection sticker.
Malloy Ford in Charlottesville has truly terrible customer service at best, and at worst is a dishonest shop. I will admit that they are friendly, but they are mainly incompetent.
Lesson learned: Do not take your vehicle here for any repairs or inspections.

My husband called them to make an appointment. They said he didn't need one to have a key made. So, he went today, they told him it would be 3-4 hours to remake a key, because they only had a skeleton crew working. My husband said, "Why didn't you tell me that when I called?" They knew he was coming in today, because he tried to make a scheduled appt. He won't be going back again.

They are experienced. If they found a problem, they fixed it while i was waiting. They are specialists from Ford and they really did a good job. They just changed ownership, when you talk to them about cars they know what they are talking about. They were good.

We have bought cars from them before. They got all the parts and they are convenient. They are quite competitive on tires. I wish they were cheaper. They seem to give a consistently competent service.

I am always pleased with them. They do a good job. I like the people there. I am a Ford retiree so that is going to have some impact on how I rate anybody that has anything to do with the motor company. I think I got a $10.00 rebate in the mail just the other day, but I am not sure what that was all about.

Spoke to the service manager and indicated my frustration at them fixing the 1100 dollar problem before fixing the 15 dollar problem. He listened, nodded his head and apologized. After doing some further research I found out that Bosch makes 80 to 90 percent of all the O2 sensors for US made cars. I feel like the victim of a service department trying to make monthly repair income goals as opposed to doing just what's necessary.
