About to give up on finding the family room furniture (couch
and chair) we were looking for in Charlottesville, the Artful Lodger was our
last stop. Caroline Minsky, a co-owner, met us at the door and gave us a full
description of our alternative choices in her inventory. She suggested we
take a look at each of the alternatives and discussed with us our likes and dislikes as we proceeded.
She made suggestions to help us narrow our
choice. She also informed us of upcoming sales, as well as planned additions to
the inventory. We clearly had the option of waiting for additional choices or
waiting for a sale. She indicated that we could take advantage of an upcoming
sale by delaying placing the order for
another month. She also gave us the anticipated delivery dates for alternative
choices.
After we had decided on a couch and chair, she explained the
fabric choices and started us with samples
at the low end of the price scale. Once we had made some initial selections,
she took the time to make some suggestions for contrasting throw pillow fabrics.
After taking several fabric samples home to evaluate, we returned two days
later to place our final order. Should we need any additional furniture, this
will be our first stop, not our last.
