"The surveillance system in the matter is a 4-channel system that we initially installed with 2GE day/color night/infra-red cameras. The cameras and DVR are analog (coax) devices. The installation was per her directions. The system was installed with a 500gb hard drive (she declined additional storage). The system was installed initially without a monitor since she was going to use a PC connected to her home network to review surveillance. This was also contrary to our recommendations. (You need an attached monitor to know if the DVR is functioning should something go wrong with the PC or the connection to the DVR.) At no time did she have a digital IP camera system or DVR. The system was never capable of recording for 6 months or a year – 30 days, perhaps. Some weeks after installation, the customer took a dislike to the appearance of the GE cameras and insisted that we change them out for something smaller. To meet or exceed the original performance specs and stay within her price range, we had to find new cameras, which we did and exchanged them. She even requested a third camera of the new type on a long cable that she could move around. The total amount billed was $1,218.60, not $1,435.00. Initial installation: 7/30/2011 Replaced cameras at customer’s insistence: 11/18/2011 Donated monitor and third camera: 11/18/2011 Expert witness appearance: 08/2012 There were at least 3 additional visits to attempt to train the customer on the use of the system. On the last visit, she spent almost the entire time on the phone with someone and finally told me to train her boarder rather than her. I did that and left in disgust. The value of the camera and monitor that I donated to her, trying to help her out, was $318. The value of the 3 additional refresher training sessions which I did not bill her for would have been $240. She then wanted me to appear as an expert witness in a hearing involving her ex-husband which I did at no charge with the understanding that that would end the relationship. This system has been installed and working for 18 months. She was pleased for the first year. After that, communication degraded to what you see in the complaint, and we decided to cease servicing her account. In short, we honored the warranty. We donated equipment to her out of good will and did not bill her for it. No system records forever, and she could not make up her mind on motion recording (more surveillance stored) versus continuous recording (much less surveillance stored). We went to court on her behalf, but her attorney only had 1 or 2 questions for us. We attempted to train her multiple times, but she would not put forth the effort to learn the system she has. Nothing was deleted from her system by us. The equipment installed is what we use every day in commercial environments, without any complaints."
