Darren Smith Appliance Repair

I read the reviews. This was our first time calling Darren Smith. I called early and explained the dryer problem-- heating but not drying. His schedule worked-out such that he came later the same morning. He couresty called when on his way to our house. He took about 15 minutes to assess the problem with our dryer. He turned on the dryer. First, in the basement, he checked the dryer vent duct for condensation and the end where it opens to outside. No air coming out at end and condensation along vent (several droplets of water on basement floor.) It seems vent has a major clog. Dryer working/heating fine. Darren was great. He explained running the dryer would probably blow the circuit inside the dryer. Darren referred us to Dryer Vent Wizard. We set up an appointment. We won't run the dryer until vent is cleaned/repaired. Lastly, Darren deferred his service fee and only charged us for just his gas. We will definitely use Darren Smith here-on-out for our applicance repair. He was honest, professional and personable. Thanks.

Darren did a great job. Was very professional. Knew what the problem was right away and fixed it for $155 (not a bad price). I would recommend him.

It went fine. They were easy to work with, knowledgeable and helpful.

The tenant living in my backyard guest house reported that the refrigerator had stopped working. He told me he had tried to unplug it and plug it in again, and had tried the breaker switches, but he couldn't get it to work, so I called Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was able to come look at it the day after I called him, which was great. He arrived on time. He asked if I had tried to plug it into another outlet, and I told him no, as my tenant had tried the breaker switches, and it didn't occur to me that it was an issue with the outlet. Mr. Smith plugged it into another outlet and it turned right on. He advised me to call an electrician as it seemed my outlet had stopped receiving electricity. Then he asked me to pay him $85 for the home visit. He spent a maximum of 5 minutes in the house. I do understand he needs to cover his time and travel expenses, but it would have gone a lot further with me if he had waived the fee or even requested maybe half of it. He truly just plugged the fridge into a different outlet. I've had repair people do a lot more than that, and not charge a fee. Instead, they've just asked me to keep them in mind for future repairs and recommend them to friends, which I certainly do. Things like that go a long way in terms of building trust and loyalty. Mr. Smith asked me to keep him in mind for appliance repairs in the future, but I'm unlikely to call him again after paying $85 for a 5 minute visit! After his visit, I felt stupid for not thinking to try another outlet, and I felt slightly fleeced for paying $85 for someone to do it for me!

Went fine once we figured out the correct part.

Great! Darren was able to schedule appointment for the day after we called. He was quick to find the problem and was back to complete repair the day after the part arrived.

Darren checked out our refrigerator and replaced regulator parts that were worn out causing inefficient cooling or poor cooling in the main refrigerator. He explained the problem, offered alternatives and gave me excellent advice on routine maintenance for the future. He is a very efficient and friendly worker. Cost included new parts and labor.

Darren was very responsive and went above and beyond to repair my fridge.

Mr. Smith was very responsive.  Returned my initial call within a few minutes.  Was able to schedule an appointment for the next day and arrived on time.  The service was for my mother and he was polite and knowledgeable.  Mom was very pleased with the service.  He was able to repair the washer and recommended that I call the manufacturer for the refrigerator because it was still under warranty and they should repair it.

Left message on Sunday. He returned call early Monday and came to my house Monday at noon . Repaired problem with parts on the truck.great job and prompt service

He replied to our request with in a few hours and set up time to come which was within 2 days.  He arrived at the scheduled time and completed the work in less than an hour.  He was professional throughout.

It went really well. He came quickly and was prompt, courteous, and reasonably priced. He did a really good job.

I offered to pay him for his time and advice, but he said he just wanted to help and knew that this was the first step in treating the problem.  Very kind of him not to charge an initial fee, and if the refrigerator does indeed need a full repair, then I won't hesitate in calling him.  He is professional, well-spoken, kind and very helpful.  It's so refreshing to be greeted and spoken to respectfully and kindly - clearly, he takes pride in his work and cares about people!
