In other words, they did all the leg work for me in a way that my work hours were not disrupted as much because of the accident. They also took care of the other vehicle and gave me all the listing of expenses. They kept me updated as to the progress of my claim and of the repairs on my vehicle.
I was happy with the repairs and I got my car back in very good condition.
I thought the best part was that when I received the renewal of my insurance policy, my premium was increased only reasonably. I am very satisfied with Travellers Insurance.
Well, today, after the inspection, I got a letter in the mail saying that because I had a tar and gravel roof and my cast iron front stairs had some damage I would need to replace/repair these in the next 65 days or else they would jack up my premiums.
I had no idea that they were looking for this (and the inspector never went on top of my roof) or that the price could change if they found things they considered problems.
I've already called State Farm to see if I can come back.
BEWARE of home Travelers' inspectors who say they are coming to inspect one thing and then inspect something you have no idea about that could cost you thousands of dollars to change or elevated premiums.
Fast forward to this year, when we received a letter saying we would not be renewed because we had filed 2 claims in 3 years and are considered high risk!! I contact Traveler's and explained what had happened and why the problem is resolved. I was told there is no option to appeal. I read on their Facebook page of others who'd had this problem and was directed to contact their Customer Advocacy group which I did. Again, there's nothing they can do--we're cancelled. I even discussed paying a higher premium. No, you're cancelled--good luck. Good luck indeed. I am now working with 3 insurance brokers to get coverage and so far no one will cover us. However, from what I've read, this is a continuing problem with Traveler's. No matter how long you've been with them, if you file more than 2 claims in 3 years--you're dropped.
We are first time homeowners and assumed that having homeowners insurance would cover repairs. We haven't used them for other things, but because this concerned water in the walls and we were worried about mold, we wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be problem down the road--after all mold is covered too.
They'll cover a multitude of items, but if you use the service you've paid for--you're cancelled. I'm glad my health insurance doesn't work like this.
