IF this Regent is associated with Luckett or Davis then the statements below are appropriate as I can't imagine they've changed:
1) contract is written so that you are responsible for selections on a timeline.  However, the company/builder doesn't "manage" or respond to questions or work with you to make the selections.  But they will insist that you are holding up the process.  Be prepared to email them and document EVERYTHING.
2) builder had a problem with the county but failed to inform me until ~2 months had gone by.  Turned out they had a stop work order but didn't tell me and since they couldn't resolve it...well I had to go down to the county office and negotiate the changes...on my own time.
3) builder didn't stay on-top of the project; like the framers who framed in two windows that had been removed from the design; like never "drying-in" (no windows or doors) the house so that the first heavy rain had water and mud in my basement AND they'd already been dry-walling the rooms.  THEN he tried to dry the sheet rock using a fan.  Mold was visible, he painted over it...but mold came through.  He was MADE to replace it.
4) builder asked us to pick a granite...we did and surprise...surprise they didn't call to hold it and it was sold.  Then, the granite installer they used couldn't cut a large piece of granite and wanted to tie in several smaller pieces..."since a larger cut would break".  We had to pay for another granite company to install the granite.
5) builder got pissy with the owner of the house next door.  He finally told me by way of emails that said the owner was going to sue me for damage to his yard.  I resolved that with no help from the builder.
6) plumbers had a leak in the kitchen and I FOUND water running down into the basement one night.  Again, he tried to salvage the sheetrock AND I had to discuss changing out the carpeting...since he wouldn't.
7) he delivered a door that was obviously cracked/broken and attempted to paint over the damage.  I pointed the damage out to him and said it needed to be replaced and he turned the door and closed it so that the damaged side wasn't visible unless you went into another room and looked.  I did and we eventually got it replaced.
8) pulled builder off all parts of job that weren't part of the contract, since he took NO interest in providing a good product to his clients...like a set of outdoor stairs and the driveway.  Thank goodness we didn't use him for a walkout...it turns out we would've been out of variance if we'd listened to him.
Basically, the builder doesn't take any responsibility for your project.  Instead he places that burden on the homeowner.
I'd thought I was relieving myself of that burden when I hired him.
He gets a D simply because he didn't leave the job and the construction quality was fair.
The price was essentially the same as I'd have paid to another builder.
