Musical Instrument Repair
$200
This awful experience took almost 6 months before I took my losses & found a different company to repair my piano.  I called Music Outlet about repairing 2 sticky keys on my 10 year old Yamaha digital piano.  They said they could take care of it, but it might take a few days. I agreed to bring the piano to their shop the same day.  They were supposed to call me at the end of the week with the projected cost of the repair, but it took me 3 weeks & several calls to get a straight answer from them.  I agreed to pay about $200 for them to replace 2 keys.  There was some delay while waiting for parts.  About 6 weeks later, I got frustrated & called for an update.  They couldn't find any record of my repair order, but promised to have the owner call me back.  He never called.  I called again & they assured me the repairs would be done by the following week.  I followed up again & they told me that they had replaced one key & thought the other one was OK.  When I went to pick up the piano, the key they replaced was fine, the key next to it now had a clicking noise every time it was depressed, as if it was catching on something, and the key they said was fine would stick down when depressed.  I talked to the ower & was assured they would fix the problems.  After another month of unreturned calls and promises, I got a call that the repair was done.  I arrived at the store, checked the piano, & the clicking and sticky keys had not been replaced.  I spoke to the owner, who promised to make it right & to call me when the parts came in.  I took my $200 loss and my piano, knowing I wouldn't hear from him again - sure enough, they don't have any recollection of the repair or my discussion with the owner.  I found another repairman who contacted Yamaha on my behalf.  Yamaha agreed that I had been ripped off & replaced the entire keyboard assembly at no cost & the repairman fixed it in my home in about an hour for the cost of his labor.  Stay away from this awful business.

Piano Tuning
Yes, I recommend this pro
I haven’t had any complaints with the work. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. They have 2 piano tuners on sight and I don’t remember what his name was. The process of getting and appointment and coming out to my house went very well. I didn’t have long to wait at all; it wasn’t more than a week. I haven’t played my piano much so I don’t really know how well it held up, but I know he did do a good job when he did it. I understand that whether it holds up or not depends on the temperature and humidity and the home. From what he told me, I shouldn’t have a temperature or humidity problem because I do have controlled air.
