MasterWorks Painting and Remodeling

We had a significant mold issue and water damage. Our entire basement had to be redone. My experience with Masterworks and its owner Mike, was outstanding! Mike and his crew communicated with me throughout and explained the tradecraft so that I understood each part of the remodel. I made all final decisions and Mike and Masterworks delivered much better than I expected. Masterworks finished the project on time and on budget. Covid made the time of completion difficult with supply chains hiccups but the company owner did an excellent job in spite of the difficulties. Made beautiful recommendations and helped build an oasis for everyday retreating.

The team from MasterWorks did such a nice job on our patio we had them upgrade our deck, build a new ramp to the shed, complete some outdoor painting and a couple other odd jobs which all look great! We look forward to calling on them for more projects in the future.

The build process was explained and expectations were set. The time of year posed the possibility of weather delays. Mike and his crew stuck to the schedule and communicated about weather delays. The entire process seemed to go by very quickly. Mike was on-site for all county inspections and everything went smoothly. We are very pleased with the final product and how professional Master Works was throughout the project.

Mike came out, gave me a quick, accurate estimate, warned me about the fact that he couldn't see behind walls to see if the new medicine cabinet could be flush mounted the way I wanted it. He arranged for Diego and his crew to come out the next week. Diego showed up a few minutes early, his crew set up plastic to protect my floors, tore out the old stuff, painted, installed the new vanity, cabinet and light, cleaned up and removed their material in less than a day. When it turned out that there were supply water pipes behind the medicine cabinet that precluded having it flush mounted, Diego took pictures to show me why I couldn't get it flush mounted. Still looks good surface mounted. Very good service. All in all, it was a great job! Looks outstanding! Good price, too.

Spectacular. Exceptional attention to detail. Mike worked with me on every detail. He allowed us to provide the material (we are part of a buying club) and he did the labor. His lead on the job, Robin, was meticulous. Mike and Robin provided excellent guidance and came up with solutions when my first idea was not viable. Their flexibility was essential. My husband usually likes to do projects by himself. He's very picky about finishing touches. After seeing Mike's work, he's happy to defer to him.

We hired MasterWorks to do both interior and exterior painting as part of getting our house ready to sell. MasterWorks won the job based on competitive pricing and ability to start and complete the job quickly. In short they lived up to and exceeded our expectations. When we had an issue with our garage door paint (not their fault) they were more than happy to come out and fix it at no charge. Kudos to Mike, Diego, and their talented team for a job well done.

The team began by power washing the siding.  In the past, despite asking workers from other companies to be cautious because water invariably came through the ceiling in the Master Bathroom, we always had water damage.  Nothing major – just annoying. The lead at Masterworks reassured us that it would not be an issue – and it wasn’t. They assessed the area where water had come in before and somehow managed to avoid getting any water into the house.  Power washing exposed further wood damage that had taken place since the last repainting (6 years ago).  Does anyone manufacture quality wood any longer?  Apparently not.  So Masterworks reviewed each area at risk in detail with us and we agreed to the $50 per hour and materials to repair or replace the additional trim.  Trim work was performed very professionally and the two coats of paint applied equally well.  We had a metal roof installed a couple of years ago and it was our fear that paint would get on the area where the roof overlapped the trim – but the team took special care to ensure it was not harmed.    Crew provided a daily (or more often) status of how things were going, finished ahead of schedule and cleaned up perfectly before departing.  I would provide this firm my highest recommendation for your consideration.  In an earlier review, we noted that Masterworks was equally competent and competitively priced for window well repair – repair that has withstood two major storms without the leaking we asked be repaired.

Great job.  Pleasant and easy to work with, all on time and correct, at a very good price.  I was pleased and definitely would call again.

As part of an exterior wood rot repair and house painting proposal, we asked for an estimate to repair a window well that had been filling and leaking at the basement floor - foundation level due to all the snow and rain we had this month.  The crew discovered - after digging 70 inches - that the pipe had never had a drain installed by the builder.  Masterworks opened the pipe, put a "T" in place, raised the drain to the right level and re-rocked the window well.  Due to a miscommunication, the estimate was for a window well in which the water was leaking around the window, not at the foundation level.  Had that been understood, we were informed the cost would have been far greater.  The company was good enough to only add the additional labor and material ($2000 versus the $1000 estimate) - which was very reasonable and equitable.  The crew and supervisor were professional, the crew arrived on time and stayed until the work was completed.  As importantly, Masterworks changed its schedule to get the work accomplished rapidly to avoid further water damage to the home (i.e., called late Friday when we again had a leak and the work was scheduled for Monday morning).  The exterior wood and paint work will be performed when weather improves.  At this point in time, we could not be more pleased with the responsiveness and quality of the work.  Masterworks is highly recommended.

Excellent contractor, which is very competitive in terms of price. High quality finish, but one needs to supervise and demand perfect execution. Matt Johnson is an excellent account manager who makes sure that you are satisfied with the works. I would contact them anytime again.

Everyone from Masterworks was punctual and professional from initial survey visit and quote through completion.  Mike did a great job helping us with color choices and ideas for the kitchen "look", turning our initial vision into something we really love.  We had all three levels painted (ceiling and walls) and had our roof replaced and flooring people doing carpet and hardwood during the same period of time, and there was never a problem with the crews getting in each others way.  As with any effort like this, we did run into a few minor issues, but everything was resolved quickly and professionally and the end result is wonderful!  All of Mike's crews were great, and the family dog is going to miss them, as she grew quite used to having her new friends around all the time.  I would recommend Masterworks without hesitation for any painting or remodel work you want to undertake.

Great communication, quality work.

Finished ahead of estimated time.  Worked quickly and efficiently.  Came back after some "bleed" through" spots on and old surface to prime and paint again very promptly.

I was amazed at how punctual the workers were.  No time was wasted.  They worked with me to get the kind of paint that I wanted to use. The house was in real need of painting so the change was rather dramatic.  The bathrooms look much better- a real turn-around.  I think that the value added to the house offset the cost of the work.  Do make sure that everything that you want done is listed in a detailed, original contract as add-ons later have a penalty. 
As far as cost, this was the only company that put in a bid to do the work.  The other companies that I contacted had good references, but I think they may have seen this house as taking too much time with higher ceilings and prep work. None of them either declined or replied with a comment so I really don't  have bids to compare for pricing. I do know that this cost was in-line with work that others in the area had done.  I was just glad to find good workers to do the job. I would use this company again.

The painters showed up when scheduled and did a very professional job.  I was pleased with the results.  They also replaced some rotted trim. The quality of work was very good and they did a good job of cleaning up.

The work performed was excellent, however there were a number of initial disagreements between the homeowner and the job foreman due to poor communication between the estimator and the foreman with respect to the scope of the work to be performed for the stated price. The issues were eventually resolved by having the estimator and the foreman discuss the work scope. The work was performed to contract at the agreed to price once these discussions took place. I suggest that Masterworks management ensure that communication between their estimators and job foremen be improved without the client having to engage in negotiations with the foreman to get the work scope clarified. Masterworks accommodated our work schedule, showed up as agreed, and completed ahead of schedule in order to avoid the potential for rainy weather. The Initial price quote was competitive with two other estimates, and once the Angie's list and senior citizen's discounts were applied the total price was approximately ten percent lower than the next lowest quote. The only reason this job was not rated excellent is the initial tension caused by poor communication between the Masterworks' estimator and job foreman.

The process went very smoothly.  The supervisor kept a close watch on the project and answered all my questions.  The trim and the deck both look stellar.

Overall it was a good experience, and I would highly recommend them.
Estimate/Proposal: After dealing with multiple contractors (which I find to be a very frustrating experience in general), I was pleased with Mike's price as well as his responsiveness in responding to my various emails about the proposal. In fact, I had him come out to the house again just so we could count the pieces of wood that needed to be replaced and then revise the proposal with that data. He was very professional and timely during this entire process.
Job Performance: The crew arrived promptly in the morning. I walked around the house with the crew lead, Ronnie, and he seemed to be clearly on the same page about all of the work that needed to be performed. In addition, he identified an area of trim that I had missed the first time around. There was already an area near the gutter that Mike had been reluctant to include in his initial proposal, because he did not know without a ladder how extensive the damage was. So both of these things had to be added on to the proposal after the fact, and I felt that I was still given a very reasonable price for adding these additional labor and material costs.
It took two days for them to complete the job because there was so much wood that had to be replaced/ repaired. (My house had been overdue for a coat of paint for probably a few years!) On the final day, as the crew was cleaning up all their supplies, they even recaulked a light fixture of mine on the outside of the house because they noticed it was in bad shape and they were already there with a ladder. I really appreciated that since it was above and beyond the job.
They really did quality work, and I feel like I have a brand new house again!
