- did not notice (or notify us) that our window was installed crooked by the Thompson Creek folks when they were installing the tile to the windowed wall. We noticed after they had tiled up to the window and left for the day. Window company fix could have caused all the tiles to come loose and break/fall. Luckily this did not happen, but still.
- did not notice that they had installed the bathtub crooked. We noticed and had to call them out to fix it. The tub slanted toward the exterior wall by 10-15 degrees and thus did not drain. They had installed a number of rows of tiles already so the fix was to shove boards under the tub from the crawlspace - not providing a consistent level surface for the tub to rest on, against installation instructions, and not resulting in a level tub in the end - still trouble draining completely, but only a degree or so.
- toilet leaked after installation.
- sink leaked after installation.
- Tiles were installed in the order they were taken out of the box, causing blocks of repeating tiles to be laid next to each other on the floor and on the tub surround.
- Installing insulation in the exterior wall was an argument, even though it was listed on the proposal, the owner didn't want to do it. We insisted they perform the items on the proposal/contact.
- when the shower valve was re plumbed, the faucet and valve were positioned too close together for them to have any space for the faucet and valve fittings. The fittings were rammed together and you can't even fit a piece of paper between them.
In the end, the bathroom is fine, but it took a lot of effort to get it done.
Tom came over to our home, took measurements, and asked us what type of door we wanted as a replacement. On the day the work was performed, he brought us the perfect door. We could not have picked it better! The installation went smoothly. As he was finishing, I noticed that he was cutting a board to serve as the front face between the porch and the threshold. The board did not look wide enough, and I asked him why he just did not cut down a 1" X 10" and cut to size. He realized what I was asking, and explained that if he used a 1X10, the threshold would overhang the face board and eventually work lose. Tom had cut a piece of brick molding to fit precisely between the Face board and the threshold. The fit was perfect. Even though the door has been installed for a year, there is still no movement. The door still looks great. Tom asked us if we wanted a storm door, and we answered to the affirmative. He also installed a beautiful storm door that still looks great. I would certainly contract him again.
