Basement - Remodel
We recently worked with Craft Kitchen & Bath to finish our basement, and the results were FANTASTIC. Our basement was previously unfinished, and they transformed it into a beautiful and functional space. We picked Craft to remodel our floors, kitchen and master bathroom because Michael Vonal is THE BEST designer, and they have a great selection of products. Michael is attentive, knowledgeable, professional, helpful and fun. He listens to what you want and designs the kitchen or bathroom that meets all your needs. Alex managed our floor and kitchen project, and Angel managed our bathroom project. They’re trustworthy, work hard, and they take pride in their work and craftsmanship. If you are planning on renovating a bathroom to, we strongly recommend Craft Kitchen and Bath. We just completed a total overhaul of our master bathroom and the first floor powder room. The project, start to finish, greatly exceeded our expectations. Our experience with their Senior Designer, Mike Vonal, was phenomenal. He was instrumental in capturing our thoughts and ideas and made sure that everything was done perfectly, down to the smallest detail. The Project Coordinator, Fatih Kutay, kept the schedule on track, ensured on-time delivery of the many ordered items, and facilitated the communication between us and the rest of the team. Craft Kitchen and Bath has exceptional talent in carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. The construction team, led by Angel Arce, attended to detail, ensured quality in their work, and maintained project schedule. They were very mindful of our schedule and our use of the rest of the house. We are thrilled with the quality of Craft Kitchen and Bath’s work and the level of service they delivered on the renovation of our bathrooms.

We worked with Craft Kitchen and Bath to renovate both of the bathrooms in our town house. Our designer, Michael, was very helpful and knowledgeable, assisting us with all the decisions, trade-offs, etc. that we needed to make. His design ideas added a great deal to the end-product, helping to increase the "wow factor". The installation crew was very meticulous and obviously cared a lot about their work. They were also very considerate, cleaning up on a daily basis. We are very pleased with Craft Kitchen and Bath and would definitely recommend them to others.

Reckless, sloppy and poor management!!! We chose Craft Kitchen and Bath to renovate our kitchen in May 2021. The work their subcontractor did was reckless, sloppy and poorly managed. I would never hire them again. The subcontractor who did most of the work consisted of two guys nicknamed “Alex” and “Dash”. (Alex told us the two of them were from Mongolia and their real names were very hard to pronounce.) Dash couldn’t speak English and Alex pretended to not understand English sometimes when questioned about some of his workmanship. Alex claimed he was a licensed electrician, and he did all the electrical work, but the County inspector doubted he was. In summary, the most egregious things that occurred during our project……. the subcontractor dented our new stainless steel refrigerator while working, and then tried to deny it. They used our stainless steel stove as a workbench and scratched it. Initially, and until I demanded, they did not protect the existing tile floor, even though the Contract required it. Their drywall work and painting was terrible, and they never finished it properly according to Contract specifications. (My wife and I had to sand their drywall patches and re-paint the entire kitchen - walls and trim.) Their trim work (shoe molding, toe kick panels, light fixtures and other visible trim work) was sloppy and poorly finished, relying on gobs of caulking to fill and hide things. And some other work was never even done. And be forewarned, even though Michael Vonal, the salesman/designer was enthusiastic, friendly and very responsive during the sales and design phase, he pretty much terminated any oversight of the project once construction got started. Contrary to what he told us before we signed the Contract, he relinquished supervision of the project to “Sam”, who we were told was new at this work. Although Sam was a nice, friendly guy, as the “project supervisor” he only appeared on site about five times during the project to do any “supervision”. Even when he did appear, and I asked him to instruct Alex and Dash to do, or correct, something, they would argue with him and typically overrule him. After 15 days of working over the course of 4 weeks (the balance of days the subcontractor didn't show up -- claiming they had to work on other projects) much to our astonishment, Sam declared they were “done” and would be leaving that afternoon. I mentioned to Sam that many things were still not completed, or needed to be fixed and he said “you better point out those things to Alex and Dash before they leave, as it is really difficult to get them to come back”. After I had to act as the “supervisor” to get a few things fixed or completed in the time remaining, Sam, Alex and Dash departed the job. Given the unexpected cessation of work, the sloppy, poor quality workmanship and things left undone, after preparing and sending Craft an extensive written summary and pictures, we told Sam, Michael Vonal and Frank Aksoy (the owner) that Craft needed to send a different, better crew to fix and finish all the work. Two days later, Michael Vonal stopped by to inspect the work first hand and agreed things were not good, promising to get everything corrected. But by August, Craft had never returned to finish our project, so we were forced to declare a Breach of Contract and withheld the final payment for resources to be able to get the refrigerator repaired and the project completed. The attached pictures highlight some of the poor quality workmanship and sloppiness including; sloppy finish work and painting, use of stove as a workbench, unsafe exhaust fan wiring, sloppy trim work, unacceptable finishing work, painted tile floor, unprotected floor, cigarette butts in yard, and splattered paint on driveway where they cleaned out paint brushes. A sad, very sad performance by Craft Kitchen and Bath. William Swietlik Update as of 2/22/2022: On Jan. 6, 2022, I posted a review of Craft Kitchen and Bath, giving them two stars for reckless, sloppy work and poor quality management. My review was comprehensive, accurate and truthful and included numerous photos showing the poor quality results. Then just recently, I noticed that Craft Kitchen and Bath provided a response to my review, using the same standard paragraph, they have used for other negative reviews. Here it is: "Service Provider Response: Dear Customer, We apologize if our designer made you feel this way. Excellent customer service is the backbone of our company and we have always held all our employees up to these standards. While we have started an investigation into this situation, we promise you that we will address it so that anything remotely close doesn't repeat again. If you're willing to talk further, please do let us know. Best Regards." Everyone needs to understand that this is complete bull.... After my review was posted, Craft never contacted me as they imply in their response, no investigation has been conducted to my knowledge, nothing has been resolved, and no customer satisfaction has been provided. The designer didn't make me feel angry! Their lousy work did!! And, in fact they appear to have repeated their typical lousy performance on other customers jobs as well, given subsequent reviews that have been posted. What a lie....."promise me that they will address it"? They haven't addressed anything to this point (now 8 months later), and had over three months to do so in June, July and August 2021 when the job was recent. In reality, they simply walked away from the job in August 2021 and had no intention of doing anything to provide "excellent customer service". I had to spend more money to get the job finished and fixed. Again, another example by Craft of total insincerity and deception by posting such a Response.

I had a fabulous experience with Craft Kitchen & Bath when I had two bathrooms remodeled in August 2021. An estimate was provided within 24 hours, the salesman was communicative and responsive, and the designers were knowledgeable and very helpful. The work crew showed up as scheduled and put in full days, and their supervisor stopped by the job site on a regular basis and answered my questions. I will definitely use Craft again for my next home project!

Total service from start to finish was excellent and price was great. Wife has over 20 years working with a new home builder and is familiar with equivalent type projects. Craft began my 3 week bathroom remodel in January 2020. Now, 8 months later, the work is still not complete. Working with Craft has been an absolute nightmare. Craft scratched my new bathtub, installed my shower doors backwards and at different heights so the doors would not close, four of the faucets they installed leaked, and the marble shower floor had so many cracks and scratches it had to be totally replaced. To make matters worse, Craft initially denied there was a problem and Jose Arias, the foreman told me that "marble is a soft stone and you have to expect scratches and cracks after it is installed." Jose then threatened not to make the necessary repairs unless I paid him an additional $1,500. Next, Craft stained my bathroom floor tiles with sealant and, after four attempts they have been unable to remove the stains. In addition, the grout on the floor and in the corners of the shower walls have a growing number of cracks. Two independent contractors have evaluated the issues with the floor and shower walls. Both concluded that Craft improperly installed the floor and recommended it be replaced. The contractors also explained that Craft had improperly used grout in the corners of the shower, rather than flexible caulking which is the industry standard. Frank Aksoy, Craft's project manager has told me that "the small spots do not prevent you from using your bathroom" and he is done making any additional repairs. After all of the issues I have had with Craft, I wondered why Craft appeared to receive so many positive reviews online. That question was answered when I saw that Frank Aksoy had been writing glowing reviews for Craft on both Google and Houzz. This is obviously dishonest and enethical, but based on my experience it is consistent with the way Craft conducts business.

We recently had our kitchen remodeled by Craft Kitchen & Bath and could not be happier. From our first visit to completion, we so pleased with everyone we dealt with. Michael and Kate were our designers. They listened to us, made great suggestions and created beautiful and clever designs. We live in a townhouse and only had a 10 x 12 kitchen, but they came up with a gorgeous plan for our kitchen. Frank was our project manager and was always available for questions and replied quickly. Craft did a terrific job redoing my hallway bathroom and I was impressed with the efficiency, communication and quality of the work.. First, Michael came over to give me an estimate and that weekend we met him at Craft’s showroom in Chantilly to pick out all the fixtures. Craft said it would take about a month to do the job, and it did. The workers took out all the old fixtures and tiles and Brendan from Craft came over and hauled everything away in Craft’s truck. Ron, the project manager, was always just a text away to answer any questions. He was very helpful suggesting the colors for the grout and also the handles for the vanity. Craft did a good covering all the floors to help minimize all the dust. One suggestion to Craft, at the end of each week, vacuum up all the dust that accumulates on the coverings because over a month’s time, a lot of dust collects. Once the bathroom was stripped bare, Jose, a meticulous craftsman and a very nice man, put in all the new fixtures, tiles, toilet, lights, and also put a fresh coat of paint on the bathroom. It looks fabulous. A week after the work was done, there was a very small leak coming from the toilet tank and Craft immediately responded and Jose came over and fixed it. Overall, a very good experience, and I will be using Craft for future work.

My husband and I could not recommend a better remodeling company than Craft. Simply put, they are the best. We decided to conduct a massive renovation in the summer of 2018 during the last two months of my pregnancy. We spent months researching contractors, only to conclude that Craft is the most affordable and reliable with the most quality work product. Frank, Michael, and the crew (John and Alex) were beyond phenomenal. Craft renovated our kitchen, laundry room, powder room, and master bathroom. The project took one month longer than anticipated to complete, due in part to changes we requested as well as some delays on Craft’s end. With that said, the entire project was completed in two months and on budget. That is an unbelievable! We have heard horror stories from friends who are still under renovation many months after promised deadlines from other companies. Craft accommodated every change we requested and with beautiful execution. The onsite crew was professional, kind, communicative, and thorough. They executed the plan skillfully and perfectly. We did experience some communication delays with the project managers and had to follow up a few times to get some projects completed. Ultimately, Craft responded to everything in accordance with our wishes. Misunderstandings and unmet expectations can occur with any service provider. What matters most is how they respond to you when those situations do arise. Craft treated us professionally with every change request and they always accommodated us. In other words, they treated us like valued customers (even if we were the ones being difficult). We could not say enough about Craft and their team. We would 100% hire them again in the future.

We contracted with Craft Kitchen and Bath in January 2018 to renovate our Master Bath. It is now July 2018 and we still have an unusable bathroom. There are numerous items on the punch list, however, the most important (right now) are: 1) the shower is not usable because the niche is not installed (wood visible) and 2) the vanity sink/countertop is not installed making it unusable. So, unless you have plenty of time (delay after delay) and money, you may want to consider another company for your renovation project. We sure wish we had!

"This was the second bathroom we did for this customer. They were very happy with the first one so they hired us again. During the project she complained that the width of the vanity is 1" wider then she wanted so we replaced it without charge. (even though it fit just fine) When the second vanity was installed, she said this is too high and she wanted a different model with different door configuration, which we got her another one, and again without charge. These vanities cost over $3000 each. She asked to replace the recessed wall cabinet, stating there were imperfections in the area that are not visible, which we took care of, again no charge. These items take 5-6 weeks for delivery each time they were ordered. We had to change the first crew because of the racial slurs she kept using with them. They refused to go back. We brought in another crew to finish things up which she drove crazy as well by meddling with how they should do their craft. She tried to recruit our crew to their 3rd bathroom on the side, which our crew refused. And we had to wait long periods of time to accommodate their time away for their vacations. They demanded that crew had to be ready, on demand, on the days and times they are available or else. This has been a nightmare of a project but we did all we can to complete it. We are in the process of filing Mechanic's Lien on their property for the remaining of the balance they did not pay."

Craft gave us a more than fair price estimate, they stuck to both the price and the time schedule. Work was completed within four weeks. Happy with the materials and the workmanship. Would definitely use Craft again and would not hesitate to refer others to Craft.

Frank, Noelia and the entire team at Craft Kitchens and Baths is absolutely top notch! Our new kitchen started with the design. Noelia Bustamante listened to our ideas and worked (seemingly effortlessly) to incorporate them into her design plans. She made many small and significant revisions and additions to the plan as our vision came into sharp focus. She is an outstanding designer and a joy to work with! Frank is a wonderful leader of his team of real professionals. When we were all set with cabinet and countertop selections, Frank made certain we were confident in our choices. He went above and beyond the language in his contract, allowing us to substitute another provider's countertops that were our first choice. And Eddie, our installation team leader was fabulous! Every request we made was happily included in the installation. Frank followed up with great service to each and every post installation request we made. This company gave us great guidance on the best products for our project. They ordered and delivered the cabinets, lighting, tiles, and trims in the time frame promised and within the budget we agreed to. This is company if you're looking for great service!

Craft Kitchen and Design is a top notch design and remodel venue. Noelia Bustamante assisted us with designing and selecting material for a complete kitchen renovation. She was always accommodating, professional, encouraging, creative, and responsive to our every need, concern, or request, as well as, our budget. She has exceptional taste so trust her recommendations! The contractor crew was amazing and well-skilled. They were always careful to check with us any time they had a question to be sure things were completed just as we wanted them. The manager, Frank Askoy, was exceptional in addressing any issue, concern, or request we had throughout the entire remodel process. The entire staff at Craft were courteous and personable from start to finish of our project.

Excellent. We hired Craft Kitchen and Bath to completely gut and remodel are Kitchen in Centreville. They gave us a three-week timeline and we gave them a budget that they were able to stay under and finish the job ahead of schedule. The materials were all top quality and chosen from their showroom. (very nice showroom too) Our designer, Kate Askoy, was amazing to work with. She was able to whip up a 3D modeled design which really brought our vision to life. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant and always easy to get ahold of. She handled all of our requests and questions quickly & professionally. The crew was always very nice respectful, clean, and on time. Since this was our first major remodel and we have two small children we were concerned about the mess and the not having a kitchen for several weeks but the fact that they stayed on time and worked cleanly really made it painless process for us. They had no problem even coming back for late punch list items at all, and completed them to our satisfaction. Any time you lay down serious money you want to make sure you are getting the best service, deal, and materials - they even worked a payment schedule that we were comfortable with as well, and that put them over the top for other bids we received. We'd definitely recommend Craft Kitchen and Bath to absolutely everybody we talk to and can't believe this kitchen is ours! check out the before/after photos:
