Home Building
Centex refused to address the defects except they did send someone to put the missing flashing in the roof as mentioned in (2) above but did not address the drywall damage or mold issues. After the basement flooding Centex did send a plumbing company to install a thermal expansion tank but there was no compensation for all the damage that was done. Centex did offer a settlement agreement but that agreement did not address the numerous construction defects - it included an offer to paint my sunroom and refinish the hardwood flooring - first floor only. After this I paid an attorney to assist me in negotiations with Centex but that Attorney was next to useless. Mr. Swann's main interest was in helping himself to my $5,000 retainer. Mr. Swann continued to make careless errors such as misspelling our names even after I had corrected him. He sent documents to the wrong person at Centex - he was TERRIBLE and should not be a licensed attorney. This was after he advised me to get an expert witness home inspector to create a report which also cost me almost $6,000. THis attorney did nothing to advance my problem and Centex's attorney made mincemeat out of him. I GOT NOTHING! The settlement agreement was withdrawn. I feel really cheated. I have a disable son and this has taken up so much of my time. My son has had some major health problems including an obsturctive ulcer that almost killed him because doctors misdiagnosed his issues. I have a complaint filed with Consumer xChange but Mr. Shoolman recommended that I also file with Angie's list. Please help me resolve these issues. I am not a wealthy person who can just afford to absorb all these losses. I bought this home with an inheritance when my mother died. It was a stretch financially and my husband works very very hard to pay for it.
