He charges by the hour. The good If you know what you want ahead of time and have the materials already purchased then you optimized his time on labor. The bad I had everything I needed already but he did not have power wire and a face plate which added on to my labor cost because he needed to drive to Home Depot on my time. That added a 1/2 hour to my project that I did not like. The ugly He should have had things that is common to typical audio wiring
