They wouldn't give me a quote without meeting me at my house in person.  Since it's a rental in another state, this was not an option for me.  Subsequently, I wasn't able to spend anything with them (although this field was required).  They were very responsive otherwise.

JP Companies did a great job overall.  They removed the asphalt driveway and brick walk ways and brick patio.  After that they poured the new larger driveway, walk ways and patio.  The basement retaining wall became a much larger job due to problem soil.  The county required a Professional Engineer to draw up plans for the retaining wall due to the amount of clay in the soil. The new wall ended up needing a six foot footer.  The retaining wall and basement stairs took about a week to complete due to the amount of excavation needed.  The crews showed up everty time that Paulo said they would, and now that the job is completed everything looks great.  We are planning on using JP to build a new deck.

The bidding process was very prompt and easy to understand.  Work began several weeks after acceptance.  The crew was in and out in two days with a well orchestrated flow of people to do whatever what task was needed at any given point in the demolition/reconstruction processes.  Final result was terrific - our neighbors keep commenting on how good the resulting remake of our front area now looks.  We are very pleased.

They did not even have the courtesy to answer my email when I inquired about not yet receiving an estimate.

Confusing.

Most concrete companies will not work on a small job because it costs too much to move the crew and equipment not to mention concrete truck minimum charge to deliver.  Paulo from JP companies worked with me to reduce his costs - which translates to my cost - by fitting in my job when he was working in the area.  Communications were via email and phone with most promptly returned within a day.  I had to wait two weeks for an opening which is frankly nothing in the scheme of things.  In the end I saved $500 based on my other quotes and the concrete work is excellent.  Thanks JP Companies.

They followed up with a detailed estimate.  Professional and nice.

JP Companies did an awesome job from start to finish.  Paulo was prompt at all meetings and listened to all my requirements.  He was confident in their abilities (for good reason) and was able to show me similar projects right from his iPad on site.  Paulo was willing to negotiate and come to a fair price for both of us.
JP aim for customer satisfaction.  After knocking it out of the park with the new sidewalk, flagstone capping and railing (beautiful job on all), we ran into a problem with the caulk.  It appeared to be a poor product that was used and was cracking almost immediately throughout.  I also was not happy with the color.
Paulo inspected and agreed immediately that the caulk had to be redone.  The next day they pulled it all out, acid washed the flagstone, leaving no trace of the old caulk.  They next day Paulo's father came to install the right caulk himself, and it came out great.  Love the customer service.
I am extremely pleased with the outcome.  It looks better than I hoped.

Called to cancel and made other date but did not give reason why? Should not wasted people time if not interested in job or overbooked. I cancelled an engagement to make meeting with JP companies. At least give an earlier notification instead of 4 hours.

Paulo came promptly after I called and gave me an estimate.  It was higher than another price I had been given, but I had a better feeling about the professionalism of the company.  His father headed the crew who came right on schedule.  They were fast and efficient and I am pleased with their work.

I requested an estimate and was able to set up an appointment within 2 days.  After receiving 2 more estimates, I decided that JP Companies was the best value.  Their price was far more competitive, and I was told the project would be complete in one day.  Another contractor estimated a week for the same work.  I made my decision and I was able to set up the install for a week later. 

After some measurements, the workers excavated the site, set up the frame, let down the rebar, and removed all the excess dirt.  A concrete truck came, and within 2 hours, the patio and sidewalk were poured and finished with a wire brush.  I walked outside the next morning and it looked perfect.  

I was very pleased with every step of this process.  Paulo is a professional who offers a great value, and delivered a patio exactly like I wanted.  He worked with me to make sure it was perfect prior to excavation, and his men left my yard in great shape.  I would recommend their work to anyone looking for this work.

I was extremely impressed with this company. The estimator who came out to take measurements and speak to me about this job was by far the most professional of all the estimators that came out to provide quotes for this job - the first thing he did was hand me a packet of materials containing references, insurance information, etc. (which nobody else did). He also had a very professional appearance and demeanor, spoke to me at length, had an iPad with him to show me photos of other jobs his company had completed, and really made me feel like this company would bend over backwards to please me. He also asked that if we received a cheaper quote, that I contact him to give him a chance to see if they could match their price. Overall I just totally impressed with this company. However, despite how favorably impressed we were with this company, we are currently leaning towards not proceeding with this work, since we realized the work we were interested in doing was generally much more expensive than we had initially thought it might be. Instead, we're currently leaning towards just power-washing our stoop, repainting it, and planting shrubs around it and hoping nobody notices the cracks on the sides. :)

Paulo (owner) gives a very professional presentation.  He comes with electronic pictures of his work and a nice portfolio with a list of references which he leaves with you. He was on time for the estimate appointment and I received my bid within the week. He came on time on March 29 and did a great job. I would recommend him to others and would use him again.

Paulo (Company Vice-President) was great to deal. He was responsive from the beginning - followed up at every point. He did what he quoted for the exact price and on time. The whole process could not have been easier from start to finish.
The concrete pad makes my basement walkout area in the back yard and very usable space and looks very nice.

Paulo is an articulate, honest  and knowlegable contractor - several other contractors claimed to be able to do the job cheaper, however he took the time and effort to explain the cost breakdown and level of effort required to complete the task (the other companies who provided us estimates were all very sketchy on the details). Bottomline I went with this company because my gut told me this was an honest outfit that was honest with their estimate - I was not disappointed with my decision. The work proceeded promptly as promised with removal of the old  walkway, and pouring of the new slab, the next day work began on facing/framing the steps and walkway, work continued on the 3rd day and on the 4th day the work was completed.

They left our yard spotless, all trash and material was removed and area rinsed off. Our landscaping and plants were undisturbed.  The crew was courteous and hardworking and Paulo spent a great deal of time on site guiding their efforts. Throughout the process Paulo either spoke to me directly or sent me an email asking whether or not I was pleased with their progress and work - folks customer service is not dead!

Final product is outstanding, we are the envy of the neighborhood! I'm extremely happy with their workmanship and customer service - I highly recommend them, and will use JP Companies Inc again without hesitation.

Paulo was very professional.  The company showed up when they said they were going to be there.   They followed the plan that we had agreed to.   They did a terrific job!   We had no complaints, and  we would hire them again.

This is a class operation from beginning to end.  From the first contact with Mr. Nicolau it was clear JP Companies were going to be easy to work with on our project.  He listened to our concerns, including cost, and needs.  Then responded in a way you knew he was listening.   He thoroughly described our options and shared his professional opinions but he did not try a hard sell for the platinum option.  It was our decision.  Before the work began he walked us through all the stages: detailing the work to be done, the time needed, and the times it would be best for us to be there to approve the work.  He even worked with us as we made some modifications on the fly.  His masonry crew were professional and skilled.  They accomplished all the work on time and cleaned up all of the aftermath, including replanting a couple plants.

This was a fairly complex job.  We talked through issues before we acted on anything unusual, thereby avoiding problems.  JP did the job in about 2 1/2 weeks without any "hitches."   They were cooperative and capable.  We have been very pleased with the whole job and the way it went.
