After reviewing the website and Angies List I sent them an e-mail to setup a time for an estimate. I received a message from them three days later (original sent on Friday morning) Monday stating that they no longer service DC. That isn't a really big deal I just feel they should update their information so others do not waste the time in calling if they can't provide the services they state.

From the point of the estimate through the completion of the work we were very pleased with this company. The management was friendly, knowledgeable and professional.  The workers were thorough and cleaned up  when they were finished.  The process was explained to us up front and the work was done exactly as explained.  We were also given instructions on how to care for the driveway after completion of work.  Everything was done on time.  Work was completed in one day and it looks great.  Throughout the day, management periodically checked on the work being performed.  We would definitely recommend this company.  Our neighbors are checking us out so we may be making recommendations soon!

We were very pleased with the promptness and professionalism of Paulo for our quote and assessment. He was very easy to work with and we are very pleased with the quality and look of the new sidewalk. The only advice we would pass along to customers is that if you've never had concrete replaced before, make sure you assess if the area around the new sidewalk will need to be regarded or filled once the site is level again. Also, warn your neighbors about the 7am noise and have them move their cars if they don't want dust on them. Also be aware that the construction crew might use your hose and water for the job if their equipment can't reach, which happened to us.

When JP Companies came for the estimate, my project was below the companies minimum for a formal written contractual bid. However, they stated that within the next two weeks, their associates would be able to come out pressure wash and prepare the steps, apply concrete, and a concrete paint. This would be done, weather dependent, between/after other jobs. "...and they will look like new." I want to state emphatically, they look like new. Due to the small scope of the work (six steps, approximately 60 sq ft), I am pleased they were flexible and responsive to my needs and able to restore a professional look to the front of my home. The work was completed early, and the site cleaned (they left no trace) . Additionally, I am ecstatic to have worked with a company that has the ethics and commitment to meet an obligation written or verbal.

He was really good. He was very conscientious. He paid attention to detail, because there were specific things that we needed to make sure that was done correctly. One of the issues we were having was a grading problem. That was the main focus of why we got the patio before because we had to correct the grading issues. They did an excellent job with that. They made sure that the patio was poured correctly and there was proper drainage. He is young, but he is very eager and he is very professional and he works with you, so if you have any questions or your things are not clear on your side, you should make sure to discuss it with him. I think it's just an experience problem, but they did a great job.

OK, but the listing on Angie's list was not accurate.  I am not clear whether this a the fault of the contractor or the List.

When I called Paulo to schedule a time to give me an estimate, he answered the phone immediately. He showed up on time and followed-up with an email estimate immediately.  We scheduled a day and time for him to remove the old concrete driveway and to install the new concrete driveway. I stopped by just when I thought they would be starting the job. Instead, I found that they had already finished.  The driveway looks amazing! I am thrilled with the outcome. Thank you!

After searching Angie's list and talking/getting estimates with a couple of other providers in March 2013, I spoke with Paulo Nicolau from JP.  He came out at the agreed upon day/time and gave me an estimate for removing/replacing the original 1950's concrete driveway and installing a drain at the entrance to the open carport.  He understood that I was waiting for approval of my credit union financing and we agreed to schedule a date when that was approved.  We exchanged emails and the contract and when my financing was approved, we scheduled a date.  Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and we rescheduled for the next week.  His father, Nick, the foreman, arrived at 7:30 am as agreed and the crew of 4 (maybe 5) other guys arrived shortly thereafter.  They then performed an amazing ballet of destruction and reconstruction - a mini-bulldozer broke up the old driveway while a couple of the guys dug a trench for the drain and laid the fittings.  All the debris was moved to the street.  A truck with gravel arrived and it was spread over the bed, followed by steel reinforcing mesh.  Then the concrete truck showed up and it was a sight to behold - pouring batches of concrete and guys working it to form a perfect surface.  They were done before 6 pm - all cleaned up, debris removed.  Incredible.  Friendly, polite, professional, and expert!  Can't say enough good things about this experience AND the price was right!

JP Companies was very professional and communication was excellent. We were able to discuss various options and get estimate proposals on these options. We were very specific about what we wanted and JP Companies followed all of our requests to the letter. They were punctual, hard working, and completed the job in a timely manner. The work they did was excellent, with much attention to detail. They even returned to the job after it was complete to do a few minor touch ups. The walkway turned out beautifully. It was exactly what we wanted. They cleaned up after themselves and even brought in new dirt, grass seed and straw to replace the grass that had been damaged along the walkway. The walkway meets up to our driveway seamlessly and the front step is gorgeous. The price was very reasonable for the high quality of work and the level of professionalism. We felt confident that JP Companies would deliver exactly what we wanted and would make it right if we were not satisfied.

It looks beautiful and I am very happy with the work Paulo did.  He showed up on time and completed the work in a timely fashion.  The curb appeal of my house has been improved 100%.

Punctual, answered my questions, and then went to his truck and hand-wrote the estimate.  His price was a little higher than others and I decided not to use the company for this job.

My call was not returned.

I received an estimate for sidewalk work.  Paulo was prompt, polite, and
explained why they had minimum pricing (that doesn't work with my
budget).  He also discussed some alternatives for me.  I would recommend
this company, and use them if I have the chance.

The bid was well written and precise.   The work was excellent and they were easy to do business with. Another contractor on property was so impressed with the work he asked my for JP Companies contact information. We are pleased with our new concrete deck pad. I would hire them again for the pool or my own personal use.

This is an excellent company to work with.  They arrived on time and worked very well as a team.  The leadership of Paulo was excellent.  He listened to what we needed and delivered everything that we asked.  The job site when they were finished was neat and the finished patio is very well done.

I submitted a request for an estimate on a dog pen at my residence. Anthony promptly responded that Stafford was outside of their service area.  I checked their website again to make sure that I hadn't mistakenly submitted a request to a company that didn't have Stafford listed as a service area.  Stafford is listed (as is Spotsylvania County and the District of Columbia).  I wrote to inform them that Stafford was listed on their website and received no response and Stafford is still listed as being within their service area.
  While I am grateful that JP Companies had the courtesy to respond, I am a little put off by the fact that their website isn't factual.  I am not sure that if I had a more prestigious or larger project, that Stafford might have been within the service area?

We received the estimate as promised and compared it to the others we got, but ultimately chose another provider

The project started on the date I was quoted, the crew showed up on time each day and they completed the project within the timeframe I was quoted.  The sidewalk, stoop and walls look amazing. The quality of the work is excellent and the results exceeded my demanding expectations. 

I had initially called JP Companies to repair some crumbled bricks on our front steps as well as completing a sidewalk that my husband and I had started.  By the time we paid the final installment, we had a beautifully hardscaped front porch area.  Both Paulo and his father are very knowledgeable and had suggestions for us to consider, since we knew roughly what we wanted but needed professional input to iron out the details.  Except for rainy days, the workers all showed up on time every day, and worked full days.  The quality of the finished work is outstanding, with obvious care being taken by the workers to do a good job.  Paulo claims that his employees have been working for the company for a long time, and it is obvious from the way Paulo and his father interact with them that there is mutual respect and a real relationship, resulting in great work being done.  I was very impressed with the managerial side of the work, as either Paulo or his father were here at the job site at least once a day, sometimes more, to check the work and answer any questions we had.  One morning I saw Paulo's father instructing one of the workers how to set some stone, which shows how important a quality finished product is to them.  The workers left the area clean, even put down straw where the grass had been disturbed.  These guys even leveled out the dirt mounds my husband and I created digging the front walk base!
We had one issue with a broken slate that had been set into the porch, and Paulo addressed it quickly by replacing it.  
I will admit that I did not get any other estimates for this work, so I cannot say for sure that this was a bargain for the money paid.  What I can say is that the quality of the work along with the professionalism of the team and their responsiveness overall makes me thrilled to have hired them, and not at all regretful to have gone with the one estimate - it was a bargain for me!  I am so happy with the work ethic and quality of this company, I told Paulo that if they renovated kitchens and bathrooms, we'd have used them without further ado for more work in our house.  I cannot say enough good things about this company and I highly recommend them.

I had a previous contractor make a (very expensive) disaster of a relatively routine project.  JP Companies was the only company to outright agree to help; others either didn't call back or stated they would not fix the damage done.  Paulo was the lead for this project.  He was very courteous and professional.  He arrived on time for the initial assessment/estimate, was very friendly and helpful, and he thoroughly explained the problems I had and how he would fix them.  Within a few days, he provided an estimate and detailed plan.  Not long after, I changed my mind and the plan.  Again, Paulo came back out and we discussed my new thoughts.  Paulo provided input and gave me several options based on price and aesthetics.  We agreed on a plan, and JP Companies provided a thorough contract.   He also was very flexible with me for payment, as I had already paid for this (failed) project once.
JP Companies started work two days earlier than expected.  The crew was able to salvage most of the material from the existing project, so that saved me a ton.  They worked all day, basically from first light to dark, everyday with the exception of when the concrete had to dry for 2 days.  Paulo met me several times during the project at 7 am before I went to work to ensure I was happy and answer any questions.  Before anything major happened, such as pouring concrete, Paulo personally ensured that I was good with the plan.  JP Companies' workers were true craftsmen, shaping and bending stone in smooth lines and with great precision.  The project finished on time and looks great.  JP Company turned a complete disaster into a beautifully designed hardscape.
This project, though expensive, exceeded my expectations.  Communication throughout the project was superb.  I never had a hard time getting hold of Paulo either by phone or email; this was very important to me.  The work started early and finished on time.  Their work is top notch, and you can tell they are very proud of what they do.  I will definitely call JP Companies for all of my landscaping/hardscaping projects.

I was very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of this company and with the time taken to go over the planned work. I chose another company to perform the work because JP's estimate was quite a bit higher for the same work and materials, but I wanted to put in a good word for the overall impression I took away from this company. I would definitely contact them again for an estimate for other concrete or masonry work.

Jaime and his crew were very professional. They came when they said they would and finished on time. They were very clean and thoughtful. We had total faith that the work was done as well as it could have been. Jaime was a presence always, overseeing the work very attentively. We have had other contractor managers who we have felt weren't really that interested or caring about the job. Jaime was not like that at all. He also checked in with us often and at the end he described every detail of what they did so we had a full understanding of it all.
We were very impressed and pleased. We plan to hire Jaime and his team again.

Paulo provided the most thorough estimate and was cost competitive with the other contractors that I had bid this job. He was constantly communicating both by phone and through e-mail. Paulo was the only contractor to recommend and include a drain with his quote, which just goes to show how far he goes to please his customer's and provide the best service. He even put drains in for me that were not part of the original estimate at no extra charge. I would highly recommend JP Companies to my friends and family and will call him again with any future concrete work I need.

JP Companies was really professional and their work seemed top notch.  I really, really wanted to use them but we decided to go with stamped concrete due to the cost savings.  If I wanted any real stone work, I would definitely use them.  I highly recommend at least getting an estimate with them because you'll want to use them.

My entire carport slab was in rough shape but what really began to concern me was the when the concrete under the support beams for our carport began crumbling away.  Paulo was prompt and responsive in all our contacts. His price was right in the middle of several others I'd gotten. He was also very patient with all my questions (I'm a bit of a worrier). They tore up and hauled away the crumbling slab while supporting the carport with wood beams. They poured a new concrete carport and footers for the new beams. They then replaced and painted the new support beams. I feel so much better now that the support beams are on solid footers and embedded in the new slab. Unfortunately, while supporting the carport, there was damage to our vinyl trim. No problem at all - Paulo immediately brought out siding professionals to replace the damaged vinyl and it looks better than new. I'm so impressed by JP Companies customer service and clearly, they stand behind their work. I would hire them again when we decide to expand our driveway and also consider using them for future hardscaping in the back yard.
