In the summer of 2010 my Manassas, Virginia home was in need of significant carpentry repairs and a new coat of paint. My two-story colonial-style home had numerous instances of rotten and damaged wood trim. This problem was quite extensive on the shaded portion of the home. The contractor/company owner Mike Ditoto, prepared an initial proposal based on his experienced assessment of the condition of my home. Together we did a walk-around the house and he clarified the work to be done. He pointed out rotten wood that appeared to be due to poor drainage and standing water. Instead of just fixing the issue cosmetically, he proposed to address the source of the problem to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence. Based on our understanding of the extent of repair work, the painter updated his proposal and we agreed on a fair and reasonable price. Mike rebuilt the cap on my front picture window and practically rebuilt the trim on my rear bay window. As he completed the carpentry work he hauled away all the damaged material. He also respected my home by not cleaning his painting equipment (brushes, rollers, etc.) on-site. He expertly repaired all the damaged areas that we had discussed, including properly priming and caulking (as needed) all bare wood. As for the rest of the trim, he carefully sanded any chipped paint, applying primer as necessary. He matched the colors of my home exactly and used only high-quality weather-resistant paints. I was impressed by his attention to detail and his tireless work ethic. Mike finished the job well within the schedule he proposed and he did not charge one penny more than the agreed-to price. I had never hired this contractor prior to this job; but I can guarantee that if there?s any painting to be done on my home it will be Dr. Paint doing it. Honesty and value like this are remarkably rare. So when you finally do discover this kind of professionalism, well, that?s what we call ?a keeper.?
