"When the customer called us the first told us that refrigerator was not working. We went to the customers address and told the customer the water valve need to be replaced. Tech gave the customer the estimate to fix the problem. Later the customer agrees to fix it.we also gave extra discount to the customer. Once the tech went for second visit to install the part. He turn off the water to refrigerator and then took of the hose on the water valve off and note that whenever you shut down the water to anything there is always a little water in the hose. In this customer case it was very little amount. When that water spilled the tech whip it off the dry cloth. Again note that is was the only spill no more after. Tech finishes the job and left. The customer calls and says that your tech destroys my floor and it’s leaking. Immediately I sent two more techs out to the customer’s house to see the damages. When our two techs arrive and called me told me there is no damage and no leaking everything is fine. This customer kept calling and calling about this matter when there was not issue. He kept asking for insurance numbers and other things. In the end I decide to refund customer because of being senior citizen the whole amount to stop this ridiculous nonsense. You guys can go and inspect or have it inspect by another company the house for any damages because there isn’t any. The customer’s refrigerator is working also for free. I don’t know what this customer needs. This complaint needs to be taken off. Thank you. Appliances Pro, Inc. 703-652-6076"
The Culligan service rep replaced the Water Tower storage tank, two valves, and the ice maker began to function.....with the aforementioned leak, of course.
Our dishwasher stopped working on a Monday and I called to get a repairman to come out to give us an estimate. I was pleasantly surprised to hear they had someone available to come out the following day between 11am-2pm. My husband took an extended lunch break from work, but while he was waiting, the guy called to say he was running behind and asked if he could come between 5-7pm that evening instead. No big deal. At 7:15pm, he called again to say he was still running behind, but would be out soon. He finally showed up at 8pm. At least he kept us informed about the delays, so we weren't really upset.
When he finally arrived, he looked at the dishwasher for about 5 minutes and announced we needed a new motor. This seemed odd because the dishwasher is less than 4 years old and we only run it 2-3 times a week. I told him that, according to the manual, the lights that were flashing on the dishwasher panel might indicate a problem with the heating circuit. He then pointed to the heating coil in the bottom of the dishwasher and tried to tell me that was the heating circuit, and it was fine. I informed him that I knew the circuitry was inside to door panel and asked him to check it to make sure it wasn't the problem before we went down the road of ordering an expensive motor for a relatively new dishwasher. He reluctantly agreed, and confirmed the circuit was still functional. Once that was done, we agreed to order the new motor - which he said would take about 2-3 days to come in. He said he'd call when the part arrived to schedule the installation.
We heard absolutely nothing for the next week. On Tuesday (of this week), I called them up and explained they ordered a new motor and estimated it would only take 2-3 days, but no one had contacted us in over a week. She took down my number and said the repairman would call me back later that evening. He didn't. I called them back the following day (Wednesday) and explained the situation again. She apologized and told me the repairman would definitely call me back within the hour. Two hours later, still no call. I called back again - and this time a man answered and told me the part was in and they could install it between 2-5pm the following day (Thursday).
I stayed home from work this time, and - I know I should NOT be surprised at this point - but guess who didn't show up?? I called them at 4:50 to find out when the repair man was going to arrive, and the lady told me that she would have him call me to give a status. To his credit, he did call back in about 5 minutes (4:55pm), and said he'd be there in the next 30-45 minutes. By 6pm, the repairman still wasn't there and I was getting quite frustrated. My husband was home now, so I went out for a run to clear my head and left him to wait for the guy to show up. When I returned an hour later, he said the repairman finally called around 6:45 to say he went to the wrong address (hard to believe in the age of GPS - especially when you've been to the house just a week ago!), and so he was going to just go home for the evening, but he could come back tomorrow!
At this point, I am just appalled. The estimate of 2-3 days inconvenience without a dishwasher certainly was too good to be true. Even if it took longer to get the part, there is no excuse for me having to repeatedly call to follow up on the time estimates YOUR COMPANY gives me. I understand that the prior job(s) might run longer than expected. That's the nature of repair. But not showing up at all, and not returning calls is not the way to keep customers.
Update: I received a check for $395.00 from them. I won't pursue BBB but I still would not recommend them since I ended up not having a refrigerator for one week and had to buy a new one and the most important of all the owner was very rude.
I wouldn't recommend Appliance Pro. Punctuality and responsiveness were both problems. And since his initial quote for the work was $130 higher then what we finally agreed to, the technician was clearly prepared to significantly overcharge me right from the beginning.
Since the starters are very fragile, he erroneously broke one but returned the next day. He did install the one for the oven which hadn't been working at all. He also explained why we're having so many problems. He knows his stoves.
He worked very diligently and did a good job. We weren't expecting glory here. It's an old old oven and stove and eventually we will replace it when we have time and money. Mr. Houssain was totally competent and professional and I would definitely go with this business again.
He was prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable.
Well done Nick!!
We called on Monday and set an appointment for Tues. They did not show up on time - called the company 30 minutes past the window time and was told he would be here within 10-15 minutes (45 minutes late) - no explaination or apology. Arrived and did a trouble shooting that determined the need to replace the motor and provided a price quote. When we agreed and then provided a $55 certificate from the company's Angies List site, we were told that he had already provided his discounted price and could not honor the certificate. The lead technician (there were two techs who came, one possiby an apprentice) initially said he didn't have the right part on his truck and would need to order it, and then decided he actually did have the right part (we retained the product documents and it appears that the part is correct). While moving the dishwasher to be able to service it, they scratched the floor. When that was identified to them, the lead tech made a flimsy excuse and rubbed the scratch and said it would go away. When pressed,he agreed to a further discount (he gave $15). At the end he pulled out a blank work order (he didn't have one completed when he got to the house), had us fill out the customer data in the heading and directed us to sign the document. Sure enough, there was a disclaimer for floor damage. However they made no effort (eg putting a mat or blanket on the floor) to preclude damage. BTW, during his time here (about an hour) he got two additional calls from customers for whom he was late for service appointments.
No excuse for lack of care and lack of punctuality. Be assured, they won't be back in this house again.UPDATE: The company mailed us a check for a $50 rebate which almost matches the advertised Angies List discount of $55. As the failure to honor advertised rates was a significant issue in our assessment, we now believe it appropriate to raise the score from the initial D to a C.
had diagnosed the problem and carefully explained to me that two things
had to be replaced because of the power spike. He was very clear,
stating again and again that TWO parts would be replaced and the cost would be $475 with $250 required up front.
Then they did not return when promised. My husband called, pointing
out that we were approaching a holiday weekend without an oven.
The first man returned. He replaced one part and said he would have to replace another, so the bill would be raised to $650. I pointed out immediately that I was carefully told there would be TWO parts replaced with the first estimate. (How could I have known that if the man had not told me? Unfortunately, we did not ask for bids.) My hungry husband agreed to accept whatever was necessary in order to get our house back in order.
So we spent the holiday with no door on our oven; it leaned against the dining room wall instead. We paid extra to have the originally-promised work done two days after the holiday.
It appears to work now, but I am not sure whether it is back to normal yet.
Our credit card was charged $650.00 and it was difficult to get service provider to honor the original price he quoted us. After a month he refunded us a partial amount, and then finally refunded the difference between the estimate and the final price he charged us.
Addendum: I received a brusque, demanding phone call from the company about my review, was offered $25 by mail which I declined, and was threatened with a lawsuit if I didn't delete or change my review, hence the B rating instead of original C, but the details of this story are 100% accurate.
