A Cut Above The Rest Tree Service

I used their service and I am very unhappy with the service I received. First it was shady and he demanded a cash payment instead of a contract and he started the job before we agreed on a price. Just a price range. He ripped me off and called it “emergency tree removal” due to hurricane damage. Priced a tree branch removal at the newly “agreed price” of 600. Tore up my yard and also his truck killed my grass. On top of all of the disrespect, he kept trying to bypass me the homeowner and speak to “the man of the house” who isn’t even on the mortgage or anything. It was my boyfriend. He kept mom and popping us. I am appalled and would recommend literally any other tree removal service to do a job.

Ben did a great job. Would definitely hire him again.

When the work was finally performed it was satisfactory, however, the time frame from hire to completion was extremely long.

My experience was very good.

Let me preface this narrative by saying he was given an "A" for responsiveness because he is a storm chaser.
My home was hit by a tornado on June first of this year.  These people showed up the next day therefore my comment above.  He was nice and polite and having not ever dealt with a situation like this before, I signed a contract as did my neighbors on each side.  He started the work but for days would disappear, I assume to work on other yards in the area.  I would see him up and down the streets but would go for days without him actually working in my yard.  The work was eventually completed.  The problem was when the bill arrived.
My largest complaint is that Mr. West is a price gouger.  I was told at the outset that he would file the claim directly with my insurance company.  I figured out later that he liked to work that way in order to keep me out of the loop and prevent me from seeing how he was sticking it to my insurance company. Unfortunately for him, it was not handled that way and I actually received the bill. He gave me and my neighbors estimates with a price range (i.e. between $5000.00 and $7000.00) but when the bills arrived, without fail he took the highest number estimated and then added $2500.00.  This occurred in all three situations.  I know this because my neighbors and I compared notes on him and his practices.  BEWARE--this is one of those companies that you are always warned about.
