Lake Gaston Home Maintenance

In August 2018 we agreed to have Lake Gaston Home Maintenance (LGHM), Michael Wall and Stacy Arthur, build a deck. The company required a deposit of $5000.00 for materials and to hold our place in the construction schedule. On August 10, 2018 we gave them a check for that amount. We canceled the project on August 13, 2018, the first business day after agreeing on the project. In the conversation, Stacy Arthur agreed to cancel the project and return our deposit. North Carolina law allows clients to cancel project within 3 business days. After numerous communications to LGHM, the check was not refunded to us. After a month of unsuccessfully trying to resolve this matter, we engaged an attorney, Northhampton County Sheriff's Office, and worked with the North Carolina Attorney General's Office for months. As a result, Micheal Wall was charged with 2 felony charges and Stacy Arthur with 1 felony charge. This legal process took several more months, including arrest, extradition to North Carolina from Virginia, and trial dates in Northhampton County. It was only a few days before the first trial date in early April 2019, 8 months after they took our check, that the deposit of $5000.00 was returned to us by Stacy Arthur through the Sheriff's office with a certified check. We would NEVER do business with this company or these individuals again!
