The owner, David, was absolutely wonderful, as were his employees. David had an unbelievable amount of patience with me as I went through all of the changes and remodeling I wanted done in my home. His knowledge, expertise, and attention to detail, of not only him but his crew, helped me finalize every detail of the numerous projects I had for him. I am beyond satisfied with the completion of the work, in every aspect; the time, the cost, and the quality. David Woods was contacted by my wife and I in mid January to quote us on converting the room above the garage to a one bedroom apartment and to upgrade the garage, with turning a third of it in to a craft studio. He was told that the apartment was to be used for a family visit in July and we were assured that the project would be completed well ahead of that time. The job was contracted in January, with a completion date of May 1st. The task was finally completed in mid August, with just one other job that needed doing. We are still awaiting for that job to be done (installation of new window). The contractor took 2 measurements for the window, which had to be ordered. Instead he got an off the shelf window, which was 3 inches shorter in width and looked absolutely ridiculous. He got upset with us because we had okayed the installation (we were beyond frustrated with the whole project by now and wanted it completed) but the look of the window was just not right and we insisted that we wanted the original size window installed. It is now mid October and we are still waiting for this to happen. As for the rest of the project. The professionalism of his workers leave a lot to be desired. Cussing loudly, writing an obscenity, smoking and stubbing out on garage floor (even had to be told not to smoke in the dwelling) and the crown in the jewel - found one worker sleeping in his car (at 9am) and on the mattress in the conversion. The overall standard of the project is shoddy. I sent an email stating what needs doing to rectify the anomalies and am still waiting. Woods just blows you off by saying he will be there and never follows up. Woods is very unprofessional. Does not respond to emails and phone calls. He sees you when he needs money. At one stage I had paid upfront for an add on job well ahead of the job being completed. He contracted that task out and then asked me for funds to pay that contractor. When he was told that he had been paid for the job he held the project to ransom stating that if I don't pay him his workers can't be paid that week and that they will not be coming to the house. I had also paid for the granite for the kitchen and went to showroom to pick out our granite. I received a call about 4 weeks later saying that the granite we had chosen had been sold as Woods did not put down a deposit for it. Come time to install it, Woods asked me to pay for the whole granite out of my pocket. I have been extremely patient with the whole process but 10 months after an assured 3 months and still no official completion? I’m throwing the towel in. It is now Thanksgiving week and still no word from Woods The final feather in the cap is that we have just discovered that the newly installed water heater for the apartment has no hot water. When it was installed, someone turned on the power to it without filling the tank up. Consequently, the heater element has burnt out and needs to be replaced. I have not contacted Woods about this (what’s the point). Just another reason for people not to hire him.

Door and surrounding area looked great upon completion. David Woods brought a small detail to my attention that he was not satisfied with. He sent his workmen back the next day to redo the door. I have since received many compliments on the new door and surround. It was even photographed for a local ad!
