Shortly after services were contracted my husband and I seperated and I started receiving statements sporadically. There were no contacts from RJ Davis until the month of August/September. During this time I noticed on the statements that I was being charged for weeding of our plant beds. This was confusing to me as I had been having to pull weeds on a consistent basis. In August I finally took a picture and called RJ Davis to issue a complaint and request that the charges for weeding be returned. I was told by the new office manager that the owner would call me back. I did not receive a call back. I called again and spoke with Jordan Woods. I was told at that time that the charge was not for weeding the plant beds but for spraying.
After receiving another call stating I owed a 1800.00 balance I began to question how the bill was so high. I told Jordan that topsoil/compost and fertilizer should have only been done on the front yard. We went back and forth a few times and ultimately she told me I would need to pay it as I had no proof otherwise regarding the discussion. On Oct 15, I spoke with Jordan again and explained the situation and that I was currently going through a divorce and had questions regarding the total balance. At that point she advised I had 562.00 so far delinquent that they were going to issue a warrant in debt. She also said that if I was in the middle of a divorce and was attempting to sell my house the warrant in debt would prevent me from doing so. I got off the phone with her and called back later to discuss my concern, she thanked me for calling back and said that as long as I make monthly payments they would not warrant the issue in debt. I committed to at least 200.00 a month until the balance was paid off.
A few days later I started analyzing the statement and contract and sent an email on 10/17 addressing some additional concerns with the services provided. I received no response from Jordan or RJ Davis and on 10/23 sent a follow up email. Jordan's response was not thorough and did not address the concerns that I had. I sent another follow up requesting more information and copy of the back of the contract on 10/23. In the email sent on 10/23 I also included pictures taken of my plant beds showing why I was concerned that it wasn't weeded as RJ Davis had said they were doing. Instead of honoring her original agreement with me, Jordan then responded that I could contact Curtis Meade with Collections of VA. In my email I requested the owner contact me and that my questions be answered.
I am incredibly disappointed in the service provided and the lack of being able to answer my questions when I have a legitimate concern. I have an excellent credit score but will not be threatened with warrants in debt especially while navigating a difficult divorce. I have explained to RJ Davis many times i have no problem paying the balance owed if I can get an understanding of their miscommunications and clarifications for being charged for services not provided. I even asked for them to fix my plant beds as when they and quot;seededand quot; they had seed go into the plant bed and now grass is growing in them. I was told they would not be doing that until the full balance was owed.
In addition I had requested the services be cancelled and was told and quot; This is your last visit - and your services would stop thenand quot;. Afterwards in a phone call to Jordan she told me that no she did not have me down for cancellation but that I would need to email her through the RJ Davis website. This is strange to me as I made two telephone requests to cancel service. It's also interesting to me when I called to cancel the services, and was told and quot;this is your last serviceand quot;, is right before they charged me an additional $975.00 for services that I did not request for the back yard. I see this as very shady business practices and taking advantage of someone already in a vulnerable situation. When you have explained to a company that you travel often for your job and are going through a divorce with two small children, the response should never be a threat with a warrant in debt, and the non responsiveness other than to say you are getting sent to collections. By my calculation I have paid RJ DAvis $1265.00 which was legitimately owed. The $300 they charged me for weeding the plant beds are not included in that nor is the extra $60.00 charge for chemicals that was not authorized in the contract. I would owe for topsoil/fertilizer/and seeding for the front yard only but RJ Davis refuses to provide an accurate figure for that amount.
I would like to provide a copy of the email communications between me and RJ Davis, as well as the photos provided to them this month highlighting my concern with the and quot;plant bed maintenanceand quot; charge of 300.00. Please let me know where I can send those to.
I regret going through such an insensitive company, who is seriously lacking in communication, organization, and integrity. This is unfortunate as I had used Angies List to select this provider and had several quotes done. RJ Davis was definitely not the cheapest but I felt they would do the best job. I was very wrong.
"We reached out to [member name removed] in reference to the outstanding invoices we had for her. When she was reached, she stated she recently separated from her husband & was in the process of divorce & that it had put a financial strain on her. She questioned the contract of work she approved by signing & agreeing to all services listed. Nowhere on the contract did it state front or back only. The price listed that she agreed to was for her lawn. Not until we started calling to collect funds did she start saying we were not providing the services up to her standards. We tried to work out a payment plan with her and that was not upheld on her end."
Renewed the contract for a second yr, made some changes and was recently informed that their were cancelling my contract due to them not having enough business in my area (bare in mind I live in a 2-250 home development).. I understand that business is business but i would have appreciated a phone call, especially when I just spoke to their office manager on the phone a week prior to receiving the letter
would have continued to use the company and i appreciated them taking me on as the only customer they had in caroline county, wished more residents would have signed up for their services
I liked the price and I liked he was quick.
I would recommend them, they returned my call, they responded quickly and they performed the service within the time frame. He did not experienced any issues.
